Hello

Im going to be starting a project build very shortly, im due to collect the engine next saturday ready to start it.

Ive been running through the uprated parts in my head and just wanted to check them off with you guys as im guessing your slightly more gti 6 gurus than me Razz

Basically i'll be finishing off with a full Jenvey Setup but just to make sure ive got things right.

- Wossner High comp Pistons
- PT82 Cams + Lifters + Double Springs
- Vernier Pulleys
- Gas Flowed Head
- 4-2-1 Exhaust mani + Downpipe
- Decat Section + Straight through exhaust

Ive probably forgotten something blatent, ill be replacing any damaged or unservicable ancils that come with the engine naturally

But would appreciate any advice as to the spec ive listed, anything ive missed or any differences you would like to tell me about Smile

Thanks muchly

I wouldnt bother with -

- Gas Flowed Head
- 4-2-1 Exhaust mani + Downpipe
- Decat Section + Straight through exhaust

you will need a remap or a mappable ecu.

add a 1.9 T diesel crank, theres a set of pistons and rods to match a diesel crank forsale on here atm.=2139cc

also standalone ecu and loom for the jenveys

but also it masively depends on what you are looking to use the car for, race series, daily drive, track slag etc

Hope you've got the brakes & suspension suitably uprated before you start, oh and a roll cage, buckets & harnesses...
Your money is better spent there first

Cool

Yea Brakes and suspension will come in time before it goes on the road.

Reason i put the exhaust in there, well i cant run a standard exhaust and mani with it, would be epically restrictive wouldnt it?

Had a nice little shock aswell, Spoox do the TB kit for £2021, Buying all the parts individually including management and loom from jenvey and spoox is £1780. Dont know if this has already been noted though Smile

As far as the 1.9 D Turbo crank rods and pistons, is the bore the same as the 6 block?

Oh ok, i get what your saying now cheers.

Without sounding like a complete dunce, what rods and pistons would match the crank? Im guessing the standard 6 ones wouldnt>

im running a 1.9 td crank with custom rods and pistons.

basiccly the rods need to be 1mm shorter otherwise they will pretude out the top of the block.

or you can run s16 rods which i believe are a touch shorter.

try this

standard manifolds are not restrictive until 220bhp+

also before you buy any managment talk to the person who will be mapping the car and ask which ecu they prefer

WHy is that then ???

Ex longmans head ported and the chambers opened up with a matched maniflow manifold and exhaust plus a matched inlet manifold is the way forward - every little helps as they say Wink

because the cams are pretty mild, coupled with pretty damn big ports as standard, no point wasting money on the head when gains are minima, also I'd be dubious about the phrasing "gas flowed head...."

as mentioned above, the standard manifold is fine for 220-240 odd, which the pt82's wont be anywhere near unless he's going to go big bore, a decent exhaust system wont go amiss, something like Miles's proven off the shelf system, or maybe a slightly larger version if required.

No point getting the pistons either then as you can squeeze 200bhp from std pistons and pt82s on management no probs

You'll need the pistons machined thoSmile

How much can you machine a standard piston before compromising it's strength?

as above, PT81's really need the pistons machining, PT82's are definitely not safe in a stock bottom end, may even need some material removing in the head where the cams run, I don't know on these ones.

you'd need to ask Sandy or Martin how much can be removed from the pistons, what you have to remember also is that you are lowering the static compression ratio by enlarging the cutouts, something you don't want to do with more overlap on the camshafts.

Thats not strictly the case depends how much has been skimmed off the head ? -

Just get some lairy cams, rods, pistons, have the engine built and checked with proper head work to take the cams. open the chambers match the manifolds get standalone management put on 48tb's but have them fluted to take 50 trumpets = job done - maybe look at 8 injectors as well Whistle

Finish off with a 2.5 bore exhaust system Cool

if you going to do the above why wouldnt you want a diesel crank which is no extra work and will give 100cc extra..
