loking at the rr printouts its easy to see why the V6 can match the low boost s/c's, so much more instant punch available from low revs, no waiting for boost/revs to arrive.

I don't doubt that it's quicker lower down and will pull away initially before you start to come into more boost, but once moving the V6 shouldn't be 'be easily quicker'. Far from it. Wink

Hit the limiter in 6th gear at 169mph (GPS - TomTom on the German autobahn). Still pulling like a train too. Cheers

No it probably isn't, but by then you've already accelerated enough to get the next gear and you're away Wink

Suspension and brakes had a lot to do with it on the pugrun tbh.

It's probably due to brakes and driver ability. Adam you have have track experience while myself and paul hasn't, also i rarely went above 4.5k rpm on the pug run, reason being because i dont know the roads and im not prepared to write off my car when i have just spent 4k on the s/c conversion.

Below 5k it would be pretty close i would of thought because of the torque, but after that a low boost 6 would be quite a bit quicker i think. It has 50-60 more bhp than the V6. Although the V6 may have more low end torque Unsure

I came on the pug run for a good drive and to meet you guys, not to race Wink

Looks like I opened up a can of worms with my throwaway remark Doh

I did say that it was on public roads and therefore difficult to make any sort of real comparison but then I also know how quick Adam's car was and was judging it by what I saw that day. Yes a lot comes down to suspension, brakes and driver ability as well but I wasn't intentionally knocking the sc boys Flowers

Hooray!!

Careful though as I know some members fundamentally believe that a standard GTi-6 is considerably quicker Wink

You need good brakes now - you won't realise just how quick you are going as its so smooth. That is a very serious warning by the way...

406 Coupe with Xantia discs - may require aftermarket 15 or 16s.

Wilwoods on standard discs.

Both require spacers on cyclones I believe though.

get shot of the cyclones IMO!

I agree 100% with adam having driven it, you go for an overtake and keep your toe down, you check your mirrors and think "where the feck did they go?!?!"

then you look at the speedo....

Shock

Cheapest way is just run good standard discs and calipers with RC5 pads for example. If you don't drive it like you stole it everywhere then you don't need the bigger brakes really.

I found I did though Wink

Will be selling the 16" Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2's I have. Probably looking for around £375 fitted with 2 brand new Eagle F1's/2 Toyo Proxie T1-R's (with 6mm of tread) + wheel bolts, or I may sell them with no tyres for £200.
