Great project love the car am always tempted to get a white wallye. Interested to know what going high boost involves as I'm thinking of doing it in a couple of years.

I'm sucked into this too - it takes ages to prep relatively small bits and the car spends weeks at a time on axle stands.

LOL +2
I'm trying to get out of this habit, until I get a proper garage to keep and work on it and it's away from the elements.

Clutch came few days ago

Engine finally came last week, most of the engine open to the elements but seems to be okay
Launched it into back of van and took it home:-

Most of my old engine now stripped, still to take exhaust and drive shafts off and then i can think about loosening mounts...

Thanks Matt
Its kept a good bit of rust away, not enough in my eyes!! its all about preparation i guess Sad

Just went to try and buy Rust Bullet as another user recommended it
got an email back
quote:
1 pint auto is £28.95 and delivery to your post code is £16.68 for any amount up to 20 Kgs in weight (which the weight of 4.5 gallons of Rust Bullet).

1 pint!! aka 0.568 litre

safe to say I will be sticking to wire wheels and using Bilt Hamber Deox Gel and then pressure wash the car outside garage. Do this a few times and i should get rid of the little rust there is.

Bilt Hamber hydrate 80 or zinc primer paint as my primers

looking at my engine bay which was done 2 years ago, some rust has creeped back in at seams

above pictures, engine is pretty much ready to come out

hubs waiting for new brakes Whistle

Galvanised wishbones still looking okay after a few years Yes

Most of the dampness and oil type substance was me going a bit trigger happy with WP40

My standard clutch has been fine for the past three years and 15k miles, i suppose if your going to be launching off the lights every time it will take premature wear but other than that it will be fine.

No I get no slip at all. I don't abuse it from the lights etc and gear changes are always done with mechanical sympathy, once in gear though I do tend to thrash the hell out of it.

Carl LOL

Been away a few days, more parts have since came

Currently awaiting new 6 paddle clutch from Helix ; this will be costing me more.

Wilwoods and welly bracket setup came, need to clean them before i put them on
Got some DS2500 pads from Camskills £75 delivered

Extra Fuel Hosing, Siemens Injectors, Swirl pot, High Boost map on ECU and Bosch fuel pump and fittings all came last week too.

Engine bay cleaned, wire brushed with 2.5" grinder with harsh wire wheel on it.
Then derusted using Deox Gel a few times.... pressure washed gel off, dried with heatgun and wire wheeled further until not needed.
Any leftover debris blew away using airline.

The spots i was not completely happy with i used Bilt Hamber hydrate 80 to help reduce rust ingress any further.

Using my heat gun out and removed most of the old body filler, again derusted all cracks and then filled all gaps with bodysealer

Then primer was applied, pretty sure I have pictures somewhere.

Also managed to strip the brake servo down a fair bit, wire wheel it, prime, paint and lacquer

I think it turned out okay!!
