any ideas?

when i turn they key forward two clicks

i get a ticking noise coming from the brake servo which i think is normal!

and the fuel pump does not prime

any ideas? Unsure

i was putting ignition on to see if fans would work, and noticed this Sad

oil gauge does a wee dance up and down from low to high a few times - no longer doing this

gave it a quick wee keyturn, it does make a noise on turn over, cannot hear fuel pump priming

still using same ecu same engine same wiring loom

iv tried pressed fuel reset button thing aka interia switch
and rechecked my fuses

i fitted an aftermarket steering wheel would that make any difference, i did cut the end of the wires to airbag? back to standard now

arnt you supposed to fit some sort of ring over the hub when fitting aftermarket steering wheels?

and why would the brake servo be ticking if its all of a suddend took huff about me cutting airbag wire, which now isnt getting used

starting to think the brake servo makes this noise all the time? i just dont noitce it? anyone confirm?

think its just a fuel relay problem, or fuel pump - edit: proved fuel pump works by putting 12v threw is, tested it with different interia switch and double fuel relay

everything was fine up intil i stripped car down

Checked the double relay behind the battery is working fine?did you ''unlock'' the ecu properly when removing engine?

the double relay thing has a hole in it from when it snapped off from the back of the batt box

but it had been working for years like that, would upload a picture but cables for its at work

emm "unlock" ?? Unsure


is there a certain way i need to press that red button next to ecu?

I don't think the ECU would need unlocking to be honest Ash as if it was switched off prior to engine removal, it will be locked to his car and then when it is switched back on again it will unlock on that car. When you stripped down the steering column to fit the new wheel, did you definitely plug the transponder aerial back in??

transponder aerial back in? Hmm would this stop fuel pump priming?

i thought all of richs ecus were unlocked anyway?

edit : putting old wheel back on

Rich's ECUs should already be unlocked, yes.....

However, if yours is not and the transponder aerial is not connected up, the immobiliser will not unlock and therefore your fuel pump won't prime...Smile

Have you checked the loom connectors at the front passenger side of the engine bay? I've seen the needles do a dance when they're not connected properley...

yeh i think i sorted that, the dancing oil level light just does its normal wee up and down

Put 12v direct to the fuel pump under the back seat and see if it runs....If it does, you know the fuel pump is fine, which it probably is.

I expect that because you have had the engine out, it will be a simple case of something not plugged back in, or not plugged back in properly which will end up being the cause of the fault.

stuck 12v across the fuel pump and she moaned nicely Yes

going to try a different a different loom that goes under the subframe

and take all the wires off the engine loom and refit

i bought a nearly new knock sensor off a forum member, going to put my old one on also (as i read this could cause pump not to prime? Unsure)

edit: fitted my old knock sensor, still the same.

Sounds like the connections between the engine bay loom and engine loom are dodgy (or unplugged).

The oil level sensor flicking up and down is due to a missing signal from the sensor.

The fuel pump will prime regardless of what the immobiliser is doing. It all points to something in the engine bay causing your problem.

oil lever sensor is fine now

iv tried a friends spare (which were working) double relays and interia swtich

and have prooved my fuel pump is still working by wiring 12v threw it

had all my wiring off, inspected the plugs they all seem fine

god im sick!

three under the battery tray area
one next to driver side wing

think thats them all? i did give them a clean up with a brass wire brush, they all had there bolts still in them/were taped up when engine bay was sprayed

other than that nothing else has been removed?
Unsure

anyone suggest me some "conductive grease?"
i could maybe stick a tap threw them to make sure


ohh and there is what looks to be an earthing point down from where the fuel double relay is ; its unused? Unsure

There are 2 on the gearbox one from the battery and one that leads into a wiring harness... Come to think of it I left the one that runs into the harness off and it acted a little bizzare. Think some of the lights were on the dash quite dimmly. Might be worth double checking that one...

the other one also bolts to the gearbox about 2 inches from the battery earth point
