She's ALIVE!!!!!

After 6 months and 1 week from taking the Pug off the road it is now running, and im chuffed to f**k tbh.

I cranked it over for ages with the fuel pump relay disconnected, waited till the oil light went out then fired her up. Bit of smoke from the oil in the bores , and it was clattering like a knackered old Ford CVH engine. Within a couple of minutes, the lifters became silent and it ticked over absolutley mint!

Took a while to bleed the coolant system but all hunky dorey now, with hot heaters and no air locks.

Having a night on it tomorrow to spanner check everything and get it back on its wheels - still minus front bumper lol

Got no clutch pedal at the moment as the cables come off the end of the pedal i suspect, will sort that tomorrow as well.

Massive smile on my face at the moment.Big grin Big grin Big grin Big grin Big grin Big grin Big grin Big grin

She was only glad because she can now bend your ear to get it sold!!!!!Yes

Ref the clutch,is it possible to 'think' you have got the fork in the bearing correctly, but really its sat in the wrong place(not engaged in bearing)??????Dunno

Was just wondering this earlier looking at the box sat on my garage floor!!!Whistle

It is possible but if it's incorrectly fitted you won't get the arm on as the hole for the pin doesn't line up.

Anyway what's happening with your evo rebuild?

Got the clutch cable back on the pedal tonight, ran it for another half hour checking for leaks, fans working properly and then got the wheels back on it, and took it off the axle stands.

Seems wierd seeing it so low to the ground again!

Took it for a spin up the road and back (cul de sac FTW!) and it stops, steers and changes gear! YAY!

Bumpers going in for paint this week, so more pics when its back together, then its off for the tracking to be done then start using it LOTS.

Bit more done to the old shed tonight, whilst the new bumpers at the bodyshop being painted, i can get on with more niggly daft jobs.

I removed the engine undertray back in 2010 when i serviced the car as it looked shabby and a few of the fixings were missing, so i sourced new fixings all round from Pug, and cleaned/prepped/painted the undertray. It fixed back on much more securely and will keep noise down and hopefully some of the muck outWink

Pic of it refitted.

How the car looks with all the front end on apart from bumper. Notice ive given it a wash as well, for the first time in months. All the fixings for the inner arch trims have been replaced with new Gen Pug ones.

Ive sourced a brand new bumper grill of egay and have taken the oportunity to re-do the front fogs, as they were done in situ last time.

Hopefully the Paintshop will be done with the bumper next week and I can get it finished and down for tracking.Thumbs up

Almost done now.

Collected the bumper from the paintshop, very pleased with it

He knows im a fussy bugger so he masked all the inside parts of the bumper, such as the crash bar, to avoid unsightly overspray.

This is the gen pug bumper grille that i won for £15 off ebay, never been fitted, still in the bag!!

I set up a massive dust sheet on the lawn and set about plastic welding the grille into place, making sure all fitment was tight all the way round. After that, i refitted the yellow fogs and original splitter to the bumper.

Just as i was about to fit it to the car, Rich popped in (t3ora), he gave me a hand lining it all up and fitting it was done in minutes. All the inner arch plastics were then finally fixed up tight, the washer bottle plumbed in and checked (yes i fitted the front and rear tubes to the wrong outlets on the washer pump, so corrected that and got the wheels back on it, fitted the numberplate and headlamp covers and there we are. Almost finished.

I'm gonna tax it Friday and then get it down for the tracking to be done then get some miles on it. Myself and my detailing buddy Dragonfly will be doing a full machine polish on it soon to get some of the shine back to her.

Thankyou Kevin. The old bumper was chipped to buggery and had a number of deep scratches in, and the grille had a few broken bars, so easier to change the lot and make it zesty fresh!

Nothing wrong with Tenna for men either. LOL!
