Either that or the guys who did your exhaust used only the finest feather down in your silencer?

Luxurious.

Well.. decided to f*ck about with the car a bit today, it's been kind of neglected recently.

For those who actually care, i'm fitting a phase 3 spoiler instead of that big horrible SP replica thing. Now the Bosal exhaust (which is SO quiet after a decat + straight through Shock) is fitted the big spoiler looks a little out of place.

Two new hubs arrived today courtesy of Tugpudding, was going to fit them until i turned the wheel and heard one hell of a creaking groaning noise. That'll be a new top mount then. In fact, make it two, prevention instead of reaction Thumbs up

So that's the front end sorted, no more bearing noises, no more creaking noises, no dodgy camber, happy days. Shame the rear beam's started squeaking Doh although it may be due to the rear brakes binding. Spotted last night that the big rod (snigger) thing on the brake bias compensator was completely non existant, should probably replace that. Least the lever's now nice and free but I don't know if that means the car is more or less dangerous now, do the brakes have more or less bias now the arm's in a default position? Dunno

Also started taking some scratches out of the bodywork which has resulted in me sanding down the entire rear ¾ ready for clear coating. Got a bit carried away and kept spotting more and more paint defects til the whole panel got sanded down. Oops. Going to start colour coding the rear bumper and rub strips when they arrive too ready for the phase 3 bumper if I ever get hold of one. The good news though is that the areas I've painted have come up perfectly, colour match is spot on, just need to clear the whole panel as blending the clear will be too much of a faff, the painted area's too big.

Erm, oh and I fitted a phase 3 centre console painted matt black and plumbed in the cigarette lighter so I could remove the ashtray that was stuck in the open position, blocking the keypad. Rear fog light switch has been relocated to the blanking plate next to the dash dimmer switch to ensure legality, front fog switch removed for now as mine have been taken off and the p3 bumper will be getting Rallye blanks.

I velcro'd the mats to the carpet too to stop them squidging about Laugh

Finally got the car back on the road Hyper

Been off for a few days fixing up a few things, was supposed to just be a wheel bearing but ended up doing almost everything. Was a case of "when in Rome..."

New top mounts, ball joints, drop links, bearings and tracking fixed, n/s was 10 degrees out! Shock Drives sweet as a nut now and now i've a standard exhaust fitted I can hear every last bloody rattle thanks to the group N engine mounts Doh

First time i've heard the induction noise of the GTi6, it's lovely! Much better than an aftermarket exhaust imo and it's so quiet now on the motorway, had to turn my amp down a bit as I don't need to drown out the exhaust any more.

Also found a bit of torque now thanks to refitting the cat and genuine lambda, and a new MAP sensor. Just need to replace the TPS now and i'll have done all the sensors around the manifold Smile

Ooh, and i removed the door rubbers so I could fit the door cards properly with a couple of self tappers at the bottom to hold them tight, been flapping around for ages. While i was there I realigned the window runners and fitted new check straps too, been missing since I bought the car and i kept getting twatted on the shin when it was windy Dry

Next on the list? The dreaded rear beam squeak has started Sad

I got bored. Am not very good at SMART repairs it turns out, so instead I did.. THIS!

Oh and say hi to my new sticker

Dent in rear quarter filled

Caking up in white primer

No dinks!

First coat

All painted

Need to underseal the arches to cover the overspray and repaint the black bits, will be fitting phase 3 rubstrips when they're painted too. Just need to get the money together for the phase 3 front end, I have the lights and grille sitting here already. Noone have a phase 3 bonnet, bumper or slam panel they want to donate? Razz

Only got two runs in the paint too, not bad for my first full spray job. Finish isn't flat so will get compounding in a couple of weeks when the paint's hardened. Still need to do the door shuts and inner wings but they'll be rattle canned as my gun's a bit iffy in small spaces.

Sundance yellow GTi6 ftw Cool

Better get my docs off to the DVLA then ay?

Looks great IMO, similar to the 106 gti yellow. They should of sold the 6 in this colour.

You need to paint the bootlid yellow, but keep the bonnet black.

Fair play mate, took a risk, and I say it looks nice Thumbs up

It's sundance yellow. factory matched paint Thumbs up

Been toying with the idea in my head for ages after seeing cherry's 106, only found out last week Linzi'd Dad had a compressor and gun!

Was attempting a SMART repair on a dink in the rear quarter and got carried away Whistle

not with a proper rig, never, apart from the test panel I sprayed an hour before I started LOL

Black bits will be going carbon once I get enough material and spare time, getting a phase 3 bootlid as a phase 3 spoiler doesn't fit properly on that one.

Wheels are what made me go "aye, f*ck it"

That and the bodged repair that left me with a lacquer peeling rear quarter.

It's weird not having scratches anywhere. Wonder how long it will last?
