Liking it mate, just not sure about the boot, I do think the matt wheels would look really good think it would finish it off.

Urgh just when you think everything's going ok, you get another kick in the bo***cks. The bodies have been put on the back burner again because my clutch has packed in Dry

New Valeo one + driveshaft oil seals + fork arm bushes should do me nicely. Quick question though.. if the cable's self adjusting, will it be ok to re-use it after fitting the clutch? It's only 6 months old...

Might as well pop on an update while i nurse my wounds LOL

Eventually managed to change the clutch but it wasn't without it's trials. Where to start?

Ok, firstly, I got the car up on axle stands and it was pretty mild outside, i mean i was even considering taking off the jacket and short sleeving it. Had enough sunshine to line up a nice "service parts" pose, like so:

Nice.

And then Mr Postman came with some MORE goodies for me, my new clutch, straight from Peugeot! MASSIVE thanks to Luke, damned competitive price and speedy delivery Thumbs up

Another poser shot to document the day:

Once again.. nice.

Then the heavens opened. I swear to god i've never seen rain like it, then after a few minutes it turned to hailstones the size of, i dunno, a f*cking pea or something. Still stung like f*ck trying to erect (snigger) a rain shelter from a big blue tarp' and getting leathered in the face at the same time. Gave up on the shelter after it took flight like a giant blue oily kite and landed a few houses away.

f*ck it, you chose to live in Scotland you stupid f*ck, now man up and grow a pair of waterproof balls. On your feet soldier...

Day 1.. yeah, i said day 1. That means it took more than the ever optimistic prediction of "a few hours" i originally forecast.

Stripped the manifold out the way as it's a piece of p*ss and gave a little extra space. Unplugged everything, battery, tray and ECU out the way. Hail still hurts like hell but why moan?

Drain the oil from everything, filter off, plugs out, bish bash bosh.

Xav arrives in the middle of a f*cking tornado or whatever and lends a hand getting the driveshafts out. O/S is a piece of p*ss, N/S refuses to budge. Said n/s even snaps a breaker bar in a futile attempt to cling on for dear life.

Out comes the bigger bar and heavier duty ratchet. Nearly pull the car off the axle stands trying to undo the nut, then... *click* 'ave it you c*nt!

Driveshafts out, speedo sensor housing off, call it a day. At ease, soldier.

Day 2. Finished stripping everything off the gearbox. Linkages, sensors, clutch cable, mount, whip out the trolley jack and cross your fingers. God knows whats happening next.

8mm hex key, check. 16mm and 17mm sockets, check. Bendy twiddly bit for the arse of a bolt next to the crank position sensor, check. Jack, check. Bricks and towels, check.

Now, how exactly does Welly get the gearbox to.. oh, yeah that's how, and now it's on the floor. Way to go, spaz.

Time to change the clutch? Time to change the clutch.

Want to see how shocking the old one was? Maybe a couple of comparison shots with the new one? Go on then. You big tease.

So that's a snapped spring, f*cked bearing, friction plate so worn it's down to the rivets (thankfully caught it just before it scored the flywheel Shock) and nylon bushes fell apart in my hands. Clutch might work just a bit better now, maybe?

All done Big grin

I did also realise that I have an oil leak coming from the crankcase breater pipe that was dripping all over the flywheel which can't have helped matters. Because i'm a tart and i'm moving onto itb's soon I impulse bought an oil catch tank and pipework. No more messy leaks anyhere, result.

Couldn't be arsed working in the p*ssing rain all night again so I just need to reassemble things tomorrow, maybe another two hours tops to fit driveshafts and seals, fill up with oil, new plugs in and refit the manifold. Finally the end is in sight LOL:

PS quick question.. see the gear in the speedo housing? This looks fine aye?

If so, that means my speedo issues must lie elsewhere surely?

It's intermittent. Works some days, most notably after reversing with full left lock. How peculiar.

Cleaned up all the earths in the dash and engine bay and no visible damage to the speedo housing so Dunno

Have you dribbled paint from the filler cap/trims, or is it a stick on type job?

I actually really quite like the whole look, sort of ratty (You either get it or you don't) - maybe not to this particular car though.

That's the weird thing Mat, it did work when it wanted to, normally after a full left-lock it worked for about 10 minutes LOL

Having major doubts about the bodies, struggling to get a plenum that works and doesn't fall to bits. Might have to bite the bullet and pay for someone more experienced to make it, it's really f*cking me off to be honest. I have one more idea i'm working on and if that doesn't work they're going in the bin Yes
