The title should read Adjusting doors when slightly feck faced!

How the feck do I adjust the doors without removing the front wing?

Ok so this morning I have to use the passenger door to enter/exit! Clearly out of my depth so nothing new there.

can anyone tell me the correct way to get the door aligned and the hinges true (so the door opens and closes smoothly)?

Do I need to take the front wing off and adjust the hinges with the door in a closed position? or can it be done with the door open? seems a bit hit and miss and then to get the hinges aligned seems even harder!

What have you done to the door?!

Mech Repairs adjusted mine as it wasn't aligned; he just opened the door and applied his weight to the frame, bending it back down LOL

Work out how it needs to be adjusted first. Whip the door off and adjust hinges to suit, re attach door and voila!!

Think thats how I did mine anyway Unsure

I don't see how you can adjust the hinges to the correct position without having the door on?

Is it possible to adjust the hinges from behind if the front wheel arch liner is taken out?

Well as i said, before removing the door, you need to check how the door is sitting. From that you can guess how the hinges need adjusting, then take the door off...

With my door, it was dropping slightly, so the top corner of the door was scrapping against the rear framework, so it needed lifting. All i did was remove the door, loosen the top hinge and move it further towards the front of the car, re-tighten, and this would mean it would pull the door to the correct position, and now it sits fine and doesn't rub!

Hope that makes sense Thumbs up

so your saying that the actual part of the hinge that bolts to chassis, has elongated holes to slide hinge either backwards or forwards
Huh?

If it isn't that far out bending it is actually the easiest way of getting it spot on.

Cant remember if they were elongated, but there was enough movement to adjust and suit my needs! Wink

Thats the way to do it,remove wheel and arch liner, close the door then loosen the bolts through the arch holding the hindges, then line up the door and retighten the bolts. If you cant get a good fit you can then loosen the bolts holding the hinges on the door for aditional adjustment. I new those 9 days in bed reading the haynes manual would come in handy at some pointLOL

If they aren't far out, strategically applied force really is the easiest way. Adjusting hinges is a pig.

i think iv already made a balls of adjusting the hinges via the 4 No. 13mm bolts.

Bending them seems a bit permanent if i f**k it up LOL

Bend em back. It does depends on how bad we are talking. banding is a minor adjustment method only really.
