I know theres probably going to be some mixed responses about this but has anyone used the 3M DI-NOC carbon Fibre vinyl? I watched a few vids on youtube of people using it and decided to give it a try, as i'm on a budget and can't afford the proper stuff.There was a guy on ebay selling some 300x500mm sheets for |

Yeah once its heated up it goes really supple and a little stretchy, so its easy enough to get rid of any bubbles.one sheet is more than enough to do two mirrors and a pair of petrol caps  |

thats a fair effort for a first try! my mirror covers were scratched to buggery so i decideds to paint them metalic black, the same as my wheels but it looks utterly w*nk tbh, this could be an alternative  |

from experience it looks ok when first applied, but if you dont leave enough overlap it tends to fold back over the edges after a few weeks and looks shite. best bet would probably be leave an inch on all the way round, fold it over onto the underside and then use some better adhesive to fix it on the edges. ________________________________________ 309 GTi6-T |

Looks good but it needs a gloss/shine finish to it to give a more 'real' effect. Do you know if you can lacquer over it? |

It is over lapped all the way round, and it was pretty sticky stuff to be fair.At the end of the day it hasn't cost much, or taken long to do so only time will tell i suppose. But I'm impressed with the finish myself. |

Its farking expensive and i'm really not sure how you got bubbles in it as its a bubblefree adhesive. Anyhoo looks like another company (Oracal) has jumped on the ever-increasing bandwagon and is producing something similar for half the cost. Not tried it yet - got a swatch and thats about it.You should always leave a good 10mm if possible to overlap and nail down the edges on any wrap, especially if you want it to last for any time. You could use a cast laminate strip to help secure it. Don't see why you couldn't liquid laminate it to give it a deep gloss, but would have to be fairly thin to keep its conformability. ________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

Though it is painted underneath those b pillar strips, so you could peel them off and give it a clean, depending on the colour of your car, it can look spot on |

I've stuck some on my b-pillar today, 'cause all my old vinyl had cracked off and looked shit.IMO it looks really nice - if your around real carbon you can see it's not real, but the texture and shimmer it has makes it look quite good anyway. I'll get some pics if I have chance 'fore it gets dark (changing a gasket on the gearbox atm) ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Half cages right up to complete custom spaceframes - MSA/FIA spec, CDS, ROPT, T45, etc - PM meEmail me! Custom-made polybushes available - need an odd size or fitment? - anything from batch work to one-off pieces. |

Probably if you warmed it up, it's pretty damned sticky, easy to work with too as it's thicker than normal vinyl and the adhesive is slightly spongy.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments.
