Hello all,

the rear suspension on my 306 is lowered 30mm and is currently on cheapo motor factor shocks. As a result the rear end feels saggy and soft. I'm guessing this is mainly down to the torsion bars but would using uprated shocks help?

The options are the standard K6 shocks from Pug, or some uprated similar price ones such as Gaz GTs, Apex, Koni, Avo shocks etc. Which would be better?

haha the lowered beam was from you anyway Razz

I'm splashing out for solid rear beam mounts and other stuff so I suppose new shocks aren't too expensive from Pug especially if I can get a discount.

You want the gas ones if you're going for Bilstiens, the oil ones are a very old twin tube design on low gas pressure, they don't generate enough low speed damping.

Have you got a part number for the ZX shocks? How do they compare to the oem 3606K6 shocks from Pug?

slightly shorter bodied, was recommended them by Miles.

BNE-1932 is the code for them, just from the pictures on the Bilstein Webkat they look better than the slightly weedy BNE-1931

Bump for this thread rather than starting a new one. I currently have cheap motor factor dampers on the rear, with 21mm tbs and kwv2s up front, both down around 35-40mm. Would I benefit from fitting a pair of 'PUG 205 COMPETITION CHALLENGE SPEC REAR BILSTIEN SHOCKS EACH PART NUMBER B461038' or would I be better changing to a hybrid arb first?

Ok thanks, from experience what difference will different rear dampers make to the way the car handles?

I've heard those group n bilsteins are veryyyy stiff. Fine for a track I would assume, but probably not so much for any road thats not like a glassy surface Razz

I heard that too, they look pretty beefy compared to oems. I've got a saggy rear end tho. Well, compared to the front anyway!

Ok so i was hovering over the buy button for b8's remembered this thread and thought about these instead.
For the two they are only 60 quid more (260 quid)

Basically
the setup will be
b8s and eibach up front
No solid rubber replacement up front just standard bushes etc

Up back solid mounts
21mmtb
hybrid arb
and either these or the b8's

Obviously they are stiffer than b8's BUT if I use them on the road and travel 300 miles at a time will they do my head in?

very much personal preference.

I have them though and can't fault them, and this is on a lighter and stiffer 205 (shorter 21mm torsion bars, so higher spring rate) it's the front damping I'm not so keen on.

Tbh i think I am quite tolerant.
I.e I have driven a corsa vxr a fair bit and didnt find it stiff.
A lot of people would disagree.
I assume this means I should probably just get them Razz

Although my main worry is imbalance between front and rear as a result?

better to be slightly stiffer at the back than too stiff on the front, they tend to understeer more if they're too stiff on the front and soft on the back.
