hi, i am well on my way to building a budget supercharged gti6 hope to have it finished for under 2 grand including buying the car. i have added an eaton supercharger from an slk merc, intercooler and radiator from a 406 td and an oil cooler from a toyota pick up, i fear the biggest problem will be the engine management. hope to have it running this weekend in standard form to check belt alignment and wiring etc before adding the new injectors and connecting up the feed pipe to the inlet manifold (standard one cut and welded) have some photos if any one is interested, thanks pete

Any ideas on what sort of power you expect to gain, if you can get it all done for under 2k that would be a great achievement Thumbs up

hoping for 230 - 250 bhp would be happy with 220 hope to run 7-9 psi, will try to add pics this week, bill is at

Is the Eaton charger out of the slk better then the Mini one I assume?

I have heard stories about the Mini ones running out of puff, and having heat issues.

Best of luck with the project though, hope you can get it all sorted, and as Tom has said.. Get some pictures up Thumbs up

slk was cheaper off ebay and it does not need an additional oil cooler its all self contained

Look forward to seeing some pictures.

I've been running a mini charger on my mi16 for a while now and a friend (m@tt on here) has an slk charger just about mounted up on his Gti6 engine. For the money you really cant go wrong.

With the right internals you could easily see over 300 bhp with that charger :-)

What pulley ratio are you running and have you done away with the electric clutch?

hi thanks for all your replys, have been trying to get pic on but too many pixels some one is going to show me how to do it at weekend. your mate that has already done a gti who programmed his ecu i need a base map yet and i am the first that i know in northern ireland and no one here has any experience of remapping these magneti morelli ones.

i am just running the pulley that came on it, no idea about the technical side just going to bolt it on and hope for the best may all end in tears, watch this space there may be a cheap charger and all the parts for sale if i blow the engine to bits

lol, like your style dont put much faith in jesus though, my main priority is the budget too this is my sunday car i havent bought one prefabricated part yet doing it all from scrappies my kit has cost 400 including charger and uprated injectors

hope these help,takes ages to resize photos, still havent got inlet manifold back from welder will get it this week hopefully get it on and start it before i build up the front in case i have any probs

Looks really good buddy.

Thats a newer slk charger, its an m45 like the one I use. Earlier slk230s used the bigger m62 charger with a magnetic clutch on the pulley. should still net you the 250 ponies your after with the right pulley. Keep us updated, al

Looks neat.. alot of people/companies are adapting to pull through forced induction on chargers these days.. Makes for a easier MAPPING session..

dunno if your gonna have issues with stepper motor after the blades though??

dont have an idea what a stepper motor is, but any guidance on mapping would be great its the only difficult part of the build, do i need to buy a base map or can i reprogram from scratch did you have any problems and who did it for you i wonder if they could advise me. i have read the 306 should be capable of handling the extra power in terms of wheel spin gearbox and drive shafts etc do you know if this is true

The stepper is fitted before the blades. This version of the charger has 2 inlet holes for some reason, so they've used the spare hole to fit the stepper in. The outlet is the hole you can see the blades through.

Wayne schofield at chipwizards is your man for mapping. Don't know of anyone else mapping marrelli Stuff?

As long as your gearbox/clutch, shafts etc are in good nick they'll easily handle the extra power.

what do you think the problems will be with the stepper and where would it be better mounted i put it here because i saw pictures of richard walkers project and he had it before the charger, thanks

Sorry my last post wasn't very clear. You've got the stepper in the correct place, in between the compressor and the throttle body.
