yeah the engine is pretty much standard bar a few small mods. RR at 184bhp at Waynes/chip wizards.

The incident was a wheel coming loose and trying to make a bid for freedom at Silverstone. Lukily Id felt it and had slowed right down before it actually come off, got away with minimal damage really.

Lucky save then. Some tosser undid my mate's wheel nuts and his wheel came off at 60 on a country road, made a bit of a mess. Was a wheel/hub/disc/carrier/suspension arm/wing repair for him. Mellow

The joys of being 'too low' you see. Wheel didnt get chance to escape and stayed under the arch/wing. leaving a bit of cosmetic damage Smile

Tell me about it, that Sierra's far from a good one either. XR4 with standard suspension by the looks of it!

Ben, I'm trying not to take the p*ss here but it's just obviously not well suited to the track like that!

I suggest all the people who obviously know better turn up at a trackday & show Ben a clean pair of healsDunno
No matter what you do there is always someone with 3 posts who's a bloody expert!
I'm not saying Bens suspension is ideal by any means but it's not too bad considering his budget...
A mate of mine tracks a Sierra with a full race pinto on bodies with full on grpA rosejointed coilovers with ap calipers & 330mm discs, it looks really shit but goes wellNinja
Rant over!

Cool

Did I claim to be an expert? I do know a bit about suspension and geometry though, but won't go into that! I'm not into willy waving on a f*cking forum.

The geometry is clearly to cock on this car though, can't you see that? Like Welshpug said too, the bumpstops are making it seriously unpredictable

Track day looks like shit though, for almost all that video all I could see were cars infront or cars overtaking, no chance of getting a clear lap in.

Hehe I've seen a lot worse, have you seen the 306 v's ringtaxi vid on YouTube?
That car has 285mm shock centres & exactly this much bumpstop clearance

It handles well because it has thicker tb's & arb but no one says it's too low, it's the same height as Ben's.
I'm sure when Ben stops having to be a grown up he will get his suspension to a standard that someone else with 4 posts will moan about.

Cool

'S fine so long as you have the torsion bars and dampers to cope with it, hell, you could run it on the bumpstops with the right dampers.

Sorry Midlife, I'll go and rack up a few thousand posts then before I express my next opinion Huh? Razz

285mm shock centre is no problem with the dampers and torsion bars to cope. Thats actually the height of my 205 track car also.

With Martin's car, it is low but I think it's been done properly

I should think so tooLaugh my ass off

Iirc Martins cas was running 23mm tb's &a 30mm arb & negative camber. Exact same spec as mine.
He's replaced it with a titanium beam now though & saved about 25 kilos...

Cool
