When I arranged mine, it wasnt too bad, it was just something they had to arrange from warehouse stock so took a couple of days longer as it wasnt a screen they held in the depots anymore. but it was only a week later they were out fitting it so no real issues.

Not updated for a long while so figured it was time to do so as there's been further progress from summer.

Got another trackday in at the 3 sister circuit

Usual ongoing maintenance

Stripped the parts car

Made a "footwell" lining as found after removing the sound deadening, My heal was catching on the seam between the floor and bulkhead

Attended a few shows and went to the rally show with Mark so a few rallyes on display at Oulton

Got one of my sets of wheels powder coated as they were due new tyres

Picked up another parts car for the bodies/ECU etc for mine

Got a trip to Oulton in in December

Then between xmas and new year, stripped down the parts car and started to get bits ready for the rallye

After new year, I pulled the engine on the rallye and knew there was going to be some work to tidy up the engine bay. (I've keep cuts from the parts car) so cracked on with uncovering the rust, cleaning it all down, treating it, cutting out the bad stuff and making it good

Cut out and replaced the bad bits, replaced the chassis leg

Primed and painted up and ready to start putting back together

Before and after comparisons

So fitted a PAS relocation kit, new belts, pulleys, water pump etc, lightened flywheel, Satchshift. ITG filter for the bodies etc

However just couldnt get the thing to run right (was using the engine from the parts car. Would idle, could move it around the drive etc but as soon as you put any real load on it, it would bog down and die.

Couldnt get to the bottom of it so just before a planned trip to anglesey, I decided to pull the engine to fit my original.. however I couldnt help but bolt the bodies onto it to see.

It ran, had a great day as a shake down for all the changes and stuff messed with. You could tell it needed mapping as a lot of flat spots and felt down on power over standard inlet etc.

Some better shots from Anglesey last month

Some proper photos of the satchshift

Needed sorting out mapping wise as still wasnt right. Fitted a fixed 3bar FPR instead of the ebay special adjustable that was from the parts car and that made a massive difference to it straight away, but less of the slat spots through the rev range. Also fitted an air temp sensor.

But still sounded like the stupid pop bang maps all the chavs get on their golfs

So got it booked in for mapping at Waynes/ Chipwizards but figured Id modify the slam panel and fabricate an heat shield to try and maximise the cooler air getting to the bodies and stop some of the hot radiator air getting drawn in

The heat shield

Finally,

Needed new tyres on another set of wheels so decided to get these powder coated at the same time. Figured Id go with something different

Its been in for mapping

Final power was 193bhp max, 176 torque. but more importantly it was 30 odd bhp increase from mid range where it matters.

Was mapped with the filter on (filter was off just to balance up the bodies)

initial run was 174bhp, once timing adjusted it was 183bhp with a near 20bhp increase mid range. then final runs where 193bhp and further 18bhp increase mid range.

Much smooth curve, and much better "under the curve" so hopefully I'll see a noticeable difference.

Still currently on standard cams/ original engine etc

Next trackday thats in the calendar is Croft in April but now itching to get something in before then to see how it is

Another little update.

Cleaned up the mounting surfaces of the wheels after getting them powder coated and fitted them to see how they looked.

Had a "wobble" coming through the car at anglesey when I was loading up the front right of the car so decided to refresh some spare shafts and swap them over along with some spare hubs and replace the ball joints.

Couldnt wait until croft at easter to get it on track following it getting mapped so ended up booking a day at Oulton with it, happy with the bodies/mapping but its pretty loud now!

Unfortunately I killed the brakes, found in the afternoon the pedal was hitting the floor.

Time to give the brakes a overhaul, and flush out the fluid with fresh stuff.

Figured while they were off, I'd give them a sand down and fresh brush of paint

Rears weren't great either, found Im doing a set of rear pads every 3 trackdays or so. Nothing is sticking so cant figure it out. Anyhow I've a set of EBC pads/discs from a car I split that I've thrown on for now along with some painted carriers

Finally, I figured Id try and extend the brake ducting to get more of a direct feed to the brakes to help with cooling (previously they just fed into the arch area due to clearance etc). Its tight but hopefully it will help keep the temps a little lower.
