Not much of an update as got a lot on personally at the minute.

When trying to figure out what the bad vibrations were driving back from the Anglesey Trackday, I discovered some very slight play in one of the ball joints so they got replaced at weekend. Could only find the TRW ones through autodoc so took a few weeks to turn up.

And after getting the track wheels off, Im thinking the vibrations could have been build up coming loose on the tyres/wheels.

Stuck the road wheels on after fitting the new ball joints and smashed it up the motorway a few junctions and a blast back down the B roads and all felt OK so fingers crossed.

Also noticed the main beams "flash" wasnt working so an ebay buy and change of stalk seems to have sorted that one out.

Love the easy fixes.

Also booked a couple of trackdays for the diary on the "boxing day sales"

Anglesey middle of next month although not sure I'll make it now with whats going on personally, and Cadwell in June. Will be the 1st time of doing cadwell but I keep getting told how good it is and how the 306 is suited to it so looking forward to that one.

Do you ever do Oulton Park?

Keep us updated on dates of your track days, as if I'm off work, I may come say hello

Not done oulton yet but looking to do it this year. Want to try and get it in the warmer (drier) months but as Im usually stuck to weekends it always seems expensive.

Should get it done really as its pretty much one of the closest circuits to me now.

Unfortunately it looks a lot better on the photos, it suffered from being parked up on a drive for 6 years, paintwork is tatty once you get up close. I'll sort it eventually LOL

Yeah everyone seems to rate Cadwell so fingers crossed

So given the car a once over. Turned out Ive melted the dust seals in the calipers, not too worries as its mainly used on track so can sort that another day. Burnt through the anti squeal shims (didnt make a difference anyhow)

Brakes all cleaned up and fresh grease on the contact points.

Gave it a little run out and all feels good.

So all set for the 1st trackday of the year. Off back to Anglesey again on Sunday, just need to load it up with the track wheels (optimistic that it may be dry haha) and fuel and a few tools.

Best go charge up the GoPro

Not much to update but replaced the driveshaft with one I had spare, seems to have resolved the intermittent vibration/ wobble I was getting, but suppose the next trackday will confirm.

Done about 100 road miles in it and seems ok.

Had it in for the MOT last weekend so got another years ticket on it. Bath and back away for now.

Not got anymore trackdays booked until June at Cadwell, got some health issues to sort first so not been getting much in the diary for this 1st part of the year until I know Im fit enough again.

So since having some surgery back in April, I've slowly been getting back on it.

Picked up some solid rear mounts so fitted them. Then volunteered on a Mission Motorsports day at 3 sister circuit to take out vets on passenger rides. despite there being a number of really fancy motors out there I got a bit of a rep as I was told I drove it like I stole it so they all wanted to jump in with me :haha

I've since managed to refurbish a set of spare wheels which clear the brembos without spacers. Now got 5 sets of wheels for the thing which I suppose is a little excessive.

I've managed to pick up a spare engine and a couple of driveshafts off Blandy. need to decide if its something I strip down and rebuild, leave as is for the if/when, or go down the rabbit hole of looking at cams, bodies, management and all that fun stuff.

Was at Cadwell for the first time a few weeks back. found a nice place to stay over the night before. Certainly a circuit I'll be heading back to, took a few sessions to start to pull it together and there was a lot more in the car.

Finally fitted a stud conversion and trying out new track tyre choices. the GITI gtr2 tyres were really good. may need to try and get hold of some more.

Then a few from Track

Also a clear lap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es8dLGiIOno&t=3s

And unfortunately the white wheel choice for a try wheel was a bit daft, the brake dust has pretty much engrained itself into the clear coat.

Finally - had fueling issues that cut my day short at Cadwell. Was on a cool down lap and it starting missing and came to a stop, would idle but as soon as you touch the accelerator it would miss and cut out. Had to get towed off.

Thought initially it was a sensor fault but noticed the lift pump priming didnt sound right, like it was dragging air or something. Still had fuel (1/4 tank) anyhow stuck my spare fuel in and it sorted it. So brimmed it and just got it home. Figured the 25 year old fuel pump has probably seen better days so ordered a new one.

So will look to get that fitted at some point this week

Also got myself a satchshift, although that wont be getting fitted any time soon

So recently had 2 further day. Did Aintree and few weeks back and Croft on Monday.

Giving the car a check over prior to Aintree and found some play on an inner tie rod so pulled apart a spare rack and replaced it, re-did the alignment. the night before.

And in true form the driveshaft popped out and so it was a gearbox oil change at the same time

First time doing Aintree, for only 4 corners its not a bad little circuit. Was there with Mark (other rallye) and Mike (VTS).

Bit sketchy doing 110mph plus with only a few hay bales lent up against trees/ the horse jumps.

After Aintree, giving it the usual check overs before Croft and noticed the rear pads where rattling a fair bit so decided to swap them out for new and also give the brakes a bleed with some fresh stuff. Definitely needs doing more often, the colour of the old stuff coming out is 4 or 5 trackdays old so maybe start looking to do it every other trackday.

Croft for the first time. Fantastic circuit, up there as one of the best I've driven and will definitely become a regular on the calendar now.

Again there with Mike and Mark

Hi Ben, always enjoy reading your posts, even though I'm not particularly into track prepared 306's, it's still an interesting read. Knockhill is a good track, challenging but short and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. What date are you going up in November?....if possible, I could pop along with my mate and meet up as Knockhill's not that far from us.

Is it a phase 1 or 2 VTS rack you've got there? I've got a phase 2 which is going into my rallye so the pipework is swap over job as well.
