Don't know tbh. Its got an unknown GTi6 cat on it so hopefully that will be ok. Carl's red rallye passed ok with a similar setup.

Photos will be along shortly.

What a bloody palaver... no MOT as yet, due to light alignment (sorted thanks to CUJ), PAS pipe hitting the rack (sorted with a cable tie), a couple of bulbs (also sorted) and mainly due to the car being too low for their ramp (FFS its a 30mm drop max on the front).

Being retested tomorrow and we'll overcome the ramp issue one way or the other.

Currently has 2 small water leaks, clutch needs fettling a tad (still), speedo doesn't work and the driveshafts need to be balanced.

Apart from that I found that it didn't wobble too badly in fourth gear when it was rolling and that it gets from 2k to 5.5k rather rapidly in 4th. Now loving the Brembos and i'm remembering just how awesome those ASTs really are. Doesn't feel nose heavy at all, in fact a lot better than the 16v mk3 golf i'm currently driving LOL

Going to be a proper beast Ninja

well I did soak the compensator a few weeks ago and gave it a damn good wiggling when it was up in the air getting the exhaust done, but I have a feeling one of the cables is sticking Sad

VSS is plugged in yes. Compensator is fine, cables i've got no idea about yet.

They aren't able to check the brakes due to the height so it'll be an on-road check and it'll pass that no probs Devil

Apart from the lights and the PAS pipe there wasn't anything else he wasn't really unhappy with. Emissions might be the only thing, but he didn't want to do that cos of the small water leaks. He'll do it tomorrow with or without them as its hardly leaking anything and takes about 8 litres of coolant.

No it really isn't that low at all. Same height as when you saw it! Just a crap lifter thing they've got on their test ramp.

Well due to it not going on the ramp he doesn't want to risk it on the brake machine. Anyway either should be fine. Can't personally see what all the fuss is about!

Your car looked and sounded very well mate, can't wait to go out for a proper drive in it once you've got the ticket sorted, good luck for tomorrow Thumbs up

The Brembo squeal is a nightmare though tbh Blink

Needs those shafts looking at though. Had an interesting chat with Andy Gwynne about them, so a couple of avenues to explore yet.

Thanks for the lend mate - i'm kind of missing them though Smile

We're on phase 74657 of clutch fettling and its just needs a tad of shortening to sort it out. Nothing major - 10 mins and a small cut with a grinder.

My wobbling is only happening on acceleration, not around corners and not cruising on say 10-15% power. Basically I think its probably one of the 406 cv joints (the inner one) thats knackared. Got a spare pair to try out anyway but its a bugger to lose the gearbox oil so soon. Could be a shaft isn't straight but considering how tight the pins were in them i'd be surprised if I was getting that much wobble - its bloody loads on 75% throtttle compared to 10%.

Nah i'm not doing anything to the front to get it higher. They'll have to sort something out - I don't really see why its my problem tbh. There is another test station down the road that can do it.

Why will I fail the emissions? Its got a cat on it?

Higher emissions on the 3 litre then the standard engine. Not sure how it works, do you not just tell the tester of the engine change? So they allow for the higher emission?

Well i've not informed the DVLA yet so I guess it might fail, however the tester said that he has to say on the test sheet the engine fitted and its number. I might need to provide proof of its age as well - not hard really!

Right well basically it failed for about 15 minutes on the emissions, but finally went through with the exhaust and engine roasting hot. It could only be tested as a 2 litre hence the issue. Bit of p*ssing about with the coolant system helped as its fine now, no leaks and the fan is melting a nice groove in the bumper for itself LOL

2x new Conti permium contact 2s tomorrow and she'll be back. Passed everything else Big grin

Still wobbling on power, but fine everywhere else. Hard to judge just how quick it is without a speedo but it blitzes through 2nd, 3rd and 4th pretty easily. Hits the limiter at 6.5k rpm no problem in 4th. Ninja

It's a pre-March 2001 car, so you should pay the same whether it's a 2.0 4 cyl, 3.0L V6, 5.0L V8.. or anything bigger than a 1.6 in fact.

I see it's going up from
