When changing management systems has anyone else convert to running a 'single' coil pack and leads instead of the 4 standard coil packs? If so what leads have you used? Have just been to Halfords and checked pretty much all they have and nothing really suits...

Most people just use the coil that is fitted to a 1.6 (and a LARGE amount of other cars) and any HT leads of the correct length.

Corsa 16v leads should fit I'd imagine - they certainly fit Mi16's when used with a generic Bosch coilpack (as found on most early 90's Peugeots and various Vauxhalls etc) so can't see why they won't also fit a '6.

could use the XSi single wasted spark unit, would need a few of the coilpack mounting lugs trimmed off.

Funny you said that Anthony, as after looking through a catalogue this morning I ordered some Corsa GSi leads. Will check tomorrow if they are long enough, and let you all know!

Ah ok ta. Yeah, be nice to mount it to the bulkhead if possible, without getting bespoke leads made up.

Right tried the Corsa GSi leads last night and a 106/306 coil pack. Loads of length so should be able to mount the coilpack on the bulk head. Thanks for your help everyone!

Can you bang up the part number for the lead set you chose? Might be useful for future refence. Thanks.

Coil pack: Intermotor, part number 12613
Leads: Miratec, part number MIL637

7mm Magnecor part number for leads is 47182

You will also need a 4 pole female junior power timer housing and terminals for the coilpack.

would really like to convert mine over , just the thought of one of those coils going again is doing my brain in,

am waiting on the faq,

wouldnt the 6 engine benifit more from having leads from a more powerful car than a corsa gsi as there only a 1600? wouldnt something of a astra or cavalier gsi be better?

I run a single coil pack and leads with my DTA. I recently bought some new leads as I developed a missfire. Came across this thread actually because my motor factor gave me 'Miratec MIL637' leads and a google search came up with this thread. They appear to be a crap brand tbh.

I changed the spark plugs a couple of days previously and I believe I may have damaged something some how as it would otherwise be a coincidence for something to fail so soon after I fiddled in the same area. I don't think I put the leads on incorrectly as I think I did them one by one (I did do it in the dark though whilst suffering from fatigue).

What's the order on the coil? i.e when looking at it:

4 3
1 2

Initially the missfire had gone but now it has returned awfully so my next check will be the coil pack itself. Is there a best way to test it before purchasing one?

About 30 miles away for anything you can wander around. Knowing my luck I'd pick up a duff unit Cry

They are plentiful on TU 1.1 106's/Saxo's aren't they?

I really need to ensure I've got the leads all in the correct order first.

So it bloody well is.. I looked before and couldn't see anything so assumed it wasn't on there. Dusted it down and low and behold...

    Thanks Mei.

A search suggests the firing order is 1-3-4-2

Does 1 start on the right hand side? (flywheel side)

I must be doing something wrong here.

Stood in front looking straight towards the engine -

    2 4 3 1.

Connected those cylinders to the corresponding coil pack number...

Start the car and it won't hardly idle and I daren't keep trying it and applying throttle.
