most likely to be just an ML5 gearbox from an 8 valve turbo, shortened driveshafts and a modified subframe to take the massive diff housing, you'd need to adapt to cable shift but thats easy enough.

5 speed only though!

its perfectly possible to build a turbo engine that isnt peaky at all, but it takes quite a lot of development time to get it right.

Maybe they've took all the gears out of it, can't break it then.

Find a decent small twinscroll turbo, get it mapped properly with a decent manifold and don't go too over the top with the power and it'd be ok.

Been seriously thinking about creating a low boost, low lag simple conversion to say 200, 220 max using a small turbo and small intercooler to reduce lag. Get it mapped by Wayne on the standard ecu. I'd try to get the torque up to say 200lbft as you wouldn't have the torque steer / gearbox issues.

Just a thought anyway....Smile

Thing is peak torque is just a figure, what happens when you go for 100lb/ft to 200lb/ft in half a second: the wheels spin. I know you can map around these things, but seems like the wrong solution.

Yes I know - had a virtually undriveable 200SX S13 that gained 150lbft and about 180BHp in 1500rpm. Even in 4th in the wet it was shit-the-bed scary. Funny though as the car only cost

It was Jon, quickly followed by the boost pipe falling off - the video is still on mdracing.co.uk iirc.
