Probably best if I make you a set, send you them, then when you fit them, return both sets and I'll give you a £35 credit instead of £25 making your mounts £95. Otherwise there is too much sending and returning and all your saving will be eaten up in postage costs. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. Good stuff, let me know your thoughts after a test drive won't you? Well, I've just fitted them now and took it for a test drive so I'll tell you what I think. First of all fitting them, pretty straight forward, required a bit of force to remove the long bolts holding the trailing arms (I think thats what they're called) as they were seized up. Took me about 2hrs from start to finish on my own, and I had no real issues fitting them bar scratching the lovely paint work slightly I took the car up my favourite stretch of dual carriageways and roundabouts upto the airport and I am really impressed. My old mounts were less than 12months old and were still pretty solid, but these feel completely different. The back end seems more compliant and predictable. And for those worrying about loosing LOOS, it's still possible I could detect a tiny bit more noise on the bumps when I was coming off my drive, but really its a very small price to pay. Highly recommended |

gilesy wrote: £25!!!!! you only offered me a drink out of them when I asked you, hence why I chucked my old ones in the bin £25, where are you getting that from? Technicly I don't pay £25 for old mounts do I? I'm simply holding on to peoples money to encourage people not to forget to send back the old mounts. As most people remember to send them back I don't make any money out of that at all. It's done solely to allow me to keep the supply going, no returned mounts, no more new ones. I certainly don't wish to pay over the odds for a part that people just throw away after they finish with them, but I do realise that they are a fairly expensive item to post so I offer to cover that. I do give an additional discount of £10 for EXTRA mounts returned, obviously as this helps me out. Incidentally, could all people returning old mounts for credit please include a note stating: A. Who they are from.(Forum name and actual name) B. Action required (Are you returning them for credit or am I making you a set odf solids from a spare set you had lying around) C. Account details/paypal details for funds to be transfered. If old mounts just turn up in boxes it's hard for me to figure out who exactly they came from and it saves a little confusion, thanks. So a donor provider gets £10 to keep you in product to manufacture and resell, is that after their postage costs too? Doesn't seem like the best offer in my eyes. It is'nt £25 off is it? It's £25 credit it, IF you return old mounts. I make £25 if people don't return their mounts, but thats self defeating as I can't make anymore for people. I don't make any extra money out of people sending in more mounts, but if people want to help out other club members to get turned around faster by sending extra sets of used mounts, I knock off a further Tenner if they are having a set, or cover their postage. Remember his is for an item that normally ends up in a bin. When I sold the mounts at £120 and gave a £10 credit, for returning the mounts, not many people bothered as that's pretty much what it costs to send them, so the supply dried up for everyone else. By making it a bigger initial payment, but larger credit, people then do send back the old mounts as they have a more significant sum tied up in them. Any clearer for you? ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. If it's that much of a problem I suggest contacting Birk or Baker Bushes and Mounts. I can earn far more money in the time it takes to make these mounts for you guys by doing regular welding jobs. (Birk operates the same EXCHANGE system by the way) And for your information, I have'nt kept a single £25 payment as everybody has returned their old mounts for credit since I introduced that payment system.Taking time out to turn bin fodder into something that people want to pay £105 quid for may seem like a gold mine to the uninitiated, but by the time you take, steel, grinding/cutting/sanding discs, gas, TIG rod, electricity, rust treatment, primer, paint and £10 postage out of the equation they are down to around £80 profit, If I knock off a further £10 for extra mounts I'm down to £70. Divide that by the time it takes to make them (About three hours each) and it starts to look really unattractive. Tell you what, f*ck it, all current orders and previous PM enquirys for mounts will be honoured, as I don't like to let anybody down. After that, make em yourselves. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Enjoy the ride once they are on and the rest of the weekend. Cheers ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. Only reason ive offered a few my self, is because i had a few spare sets of mounts to hand, so thought i would try and help a few people out with a simple modd. As daveyboy has mentioned, it also takes time to make them, of which i imagine dave has very little of, i just knocked a set or 2 up because ive got very little work in my job to do. Dave - do you get yours powdercoated, they do look pretty swish when they are done. Dan ________________________________________ Dimma + Gt35 turbo =Solid rear beam mounts £130 07889376885 Dan |

Dan Thanks Birk, The finish consists of rust killer, 3 coats of zinc primer, them three coats of cellulose red, all from a spray gun. To be fair, I have been thinking of knocking this on the head for some time. £105 for these is really not very much at all. And to find out some people still seem to think I have some kind of scam going, well that just about made my mind up for me mate. People may see this as a scam or think its to much, but your offering a great service with the chassis repair, ive had to fix both my engine mount and gearbox mount before, took me a whole day to get them spot on, so for you to do it in a few hours is realy good, they dont understand the time, effort and materials that go into the jobs aye.________________________________________ Dimma + Gt35 turbo =Solid rear beam mounts £130 07889376885 Dan |
