andy+katie wrote: well ive put in new arb bushes and also fitted bilsteins at the same time. it could be a case of i havent tightened the bar in at the right angle or a case of the droplink mount been at a different height on the bilys. i think i will look into it more before i connect it all up. thanks everybody I don't think it is possible to close the clamps if the bushes are not located correctly. The ARB bushes have a flat bit (and should have a small painted dot to show which way up they go - painted dot on the top - some have the dot some don't as a guide) the flat bit goes on the subframe and the indent fits snug into the clamp indent. |

it was tight to get the clamps to close, i think the bolt just reached through 1 thread and to get it further i had to spin the bolt clockwise witch wound the clamp down enough for me to get the nut on.________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

This then puts the ARB bush 'indents' on the inside and 'outdents' on the outside in the wrong position. I had the same problem initially and had one thread ... then took it apart sorted it out and it went together easily. |

Nah, what you want to do is make some lightweight miniature lightsabers. Then load the f*ckers into a magazine and take a machine gun, sorted. ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Slit in the bush should line up pointing forwards on the car, normally.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. andy+katie wrote: i thinkk it its facing forwartds, unless its moved out slightly. just like the last photo above ... the slit lines up with the front flat bit that bolts into the wishbone bit. If the clamps are not hooked into the subframe correctly they can also cause the clamps to not close correctly. It is a bit of a nightmare really ... goodluck. Now where are the additional photos of Katie? |

Sean's sugestion of loosening the subframe bolts helped but I did not want to use grease incase it deteriorated the rubber. Fairy liquid I think could be a better option.edit: clearly not! see below ... also forgot i change the front ARB over also. so most likely no need to loosen bolts unless you have limited patience for aligning the ARB bush/clamp/ARB assembly |

Nah, fairy liquid is full of salt!A decent CV-joint grease or silicone damper oil would be perfect. ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. andy+katie wrote: did you fit a new front roll bar to yours? Yes ... made a world of difference. I think the front ARB makes the biggest difference to the front suspension of all the components changed as it makes the driveability smooth (see link in post #42) ... it made quite an impact quote me 'The Front Arb has refined the car when accelerating, braking, gear changing and cornering whilst reducing small tarmac bumps'. |

'S 'cause it's not binding on the bushes any more, surprising what a little bit of corrosion/wear on the arb bushes can do.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments.
