i thought i'd best add my toy to the projects listWink

its a track only car for winter use (it gets a tad cold in the indy)

as it was when we bought it


i got a tad carried away with the drill Sad


also note the 4 bonnet pins this is why


slightly bare interior


the doors also went on an extreme diet


as the heater matrix has gone i got one of these (as suggested on here) from CBS


and my new dash lay out Big grin


this will be a slow moving project due to the fact we are part way through building an evo 6 (ex-wallace performance) back into a road car
finally back home


the bumper is grey as it's the only colour i had
also you may notice the gap where the bumper reinforcement was removed and the dent from it being written off Smile


poly windows and slider added


old seat fitted due the the new one being set alight Sad and an OMP bolt in cage


r888's on steels and a spare axle tube


and the rest of the axle awaiting the addition of some camber adjustment Big grin

Is the heater just for demisting the windscreen or will it keep yer feet warm too?

No windows is lighter than poly carb LOL

sorry for the lack of progress but the olde evo 6 is being put back together after a full re-spray.

the heater is just a de-mister for the screen and works a treat

also i pick up the bits for the cage this week so progress will hopefully be alot fatser over the next couple of weeks Big grin

Why waste time and effort drilling the grill when it would be easier to just remove it completely?

I'd remove the grill if it was me, maximise the airflow Smile

Looks like a good project tho mate, i'll be keeping an eye. Wish i had the space to do something like this.

Circular holes in thin sheets are terrible for airflow, which is why they used them for air-brakes...

best place for the front grill, i found, was on the front room floor until the missus throws it out after 4 months Yes

all i need now is to get a tube bender and crack on with the cage,

oh and buy an exhaust after the old one fell off (snapped just before it joind the backbox Sad )

mini update (i forgot the camera again Sad )
the grill has been removed
poly windows are fitted to the doors now (i dont have the rears yet

new steering wheel is here (altho the boss is wrong Sad )

seats are here just need to make up some mounts

and im now saving for the suspension from miles and possibly one of miles' exhausts in the next month or so too

You will struggle to find a bender at reasonable money that will do a good job of making the bends unless you plan to make them from small diameter thick-wall tubing. (The formers will allow the inner part of the bend to flatten or wrinkle on 2.5mm x 45mm diameter tube this weakens them severely thats why the pros use mandrel benders)

sorry i should have been more specific
what i mean is im trying to find someone with a bender to bend the tubes for me
but
all the local firms seem to either use 50mm or 48mm tube max
when i ordered the tube i made the mistake of getting 2 inch o.d. (50.8mm)

looks like im going to have to hire a trailor and look further afield Sad

Thats surprising we have 2" kit at our place its a pretty standard size. I am sure the hydraulic tube bender sold by Machinemart has a 2" former included.

i can get the use of 5 or 6 centre benders (like the machine mart jobby) but it tends to flatted the tube a mandrel bender is what im looking to use Smile
im sure one will turn up it just means waiting thats all Smile

today i mainly created a decat pipe
i know its not brilliant but i thought i would have a go Smile





some brackets to hold the pip in position
