A friend of mine has probs woth gear changes after 5 or 6 hard laps in his 6.

we changed gear oil for normal stuff from Halfords which did help but after a track day today the crunching has returned.

Any one reccomend a high performace gear oil?

thanks

I have been using Millers 75w90 Gear oil for a couple of years now. Had no issues with it at all. And i think its better spec than the standard.

This is for standard diff. Here

you need Total shell or esso 75 W 80, they are tailored for PSA gearboxes.

may well be that he needs his gearbox rebuilt though, mine does the same if you shift too fast as the synchro rings and springs are getting tired.

I wouldn't use "uprated" oils, that's just wasting money, the only time you should use different oils to the standard PSA spec BV oil is when you are using say a quaife or sadev gearset which has different materials and coatings which need something different, otherwise O.E wins.

How about putting in an electric oil pump and cooler from think automotive (Demon Tweeks)? Could be worth doing if the cost does'nt outweigh the price of another box. But you probably have another underlying issue with the syncros as not many people on here seem to suffer that problem on track. The cooler may still be a good idea on your replacement box if you do get one though.
