Is it possible to remove the manifold without removing the engine or engine parts?

What about using rust cure from bilt hamper then paint the manifold to stop the rust creep beneath the wrapping ? ?

i had this on my car and with the history gti 6 have of leaky cam covers i would carry an extinguisher as a few drips onto the manifold wrap caused a fire. i was so lucky my car didint go up in flames. these days i would get it ceramic coated as i dont think the wrap is worth the hassle

hmmm, I had my gearbox explode and gearbox oil was all over the manifold..

no fire whatsoever (just a lot of smoke), cleaned it with some breakcleaner, suffered a few days from a horrible smell, but still, no problems with it (sometimes it smells a bit when very hot)

so it may depend on the quality of the wrap you use?

Might be the sealant that keeps the water out then! Dont even know where I heard it so might be something I've made up lol

Your right, apparently it hold moisture in and caused the mild steel to rot

They make it in black too. Looks really good with it in black....or spray it as noted below after....either way

Best way to wrap, if I may throw my 2 cents in.

Take the roll and put it in a bucket with water, let it soak (this cuts down on the wraps fiberglass getting on you and itching for days....also makes it easier to shape/wrap on tight bends)

Tie one end to a bannister or pole, so you can pull it tight. Wrap the header/pipe/etc. Keeping it always tight.

Once done let it sit till dry (having obviously used steel straps to secure it), they spray with that high temp coating (DEI makes some)

For example.....buy it anywhere.

Install and enjoy.
