why would you get stalling issues by using a big intercooler?do you mean the charger stalls ? |

rapidcossie wrote: why would you get stalling issues by using a big intercooler? do you mean the charger stalls ? The revs drop too low due to the effective large Inlet plenum volume. Imagine the inlet manifold, intercooler and boost piping as the inlet plenum and you can see how the stepper motor might have a problem regulating that volume of air. You could always try a different approach like Rich_w where his throttle body is mounted after the 'charger. |

Yeah thats how one would normally mount a supercharger but given the space in the 306 it was easier and more effective to do it the way Rich has done it for our kits Personally mine hardly ever stalls at all now purely because i have adapted the way i bring the car to a stop, it really is no biggy given the amount of oommmppph one gets ________________________________________ Just Drive It |

Hasn't Rich got an updated map to stop the stalling? ________________________________________ My old man wrote me a letter from prison once. It said if you don't want to end up in here, stay away from crime, women and drugs. Trouble is, that don't leave you much else to do, does it? |

Yeah thats what russ has now, an he has no complaints, although he is used to it now tho. im tempted to go down the the same road as rich, but flat needs heating first!________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |

I had the stalling issue and i am still running the original map (i.e. zacs map as i was the third boosted six (after rich and zac)),I have cured 99% of the stalling by joining up pins 1 and 2 in the aircon connector that goes into the aircon pipe as in the pic below, When you press the aircon switch (i leave it on all the time) it puts the fans on at low speed, but also raises the idle rpm slightly, this slight raise of rpm is enough to stop the stalling, However when the temp drops below 4 degrees c it does'ent work for some reason, guess the aircon switch wont raise the rpm below that temp , Suppose i should get the revised map but hoping to go high boost eventually so i havent bothered, ________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

so the revs drop and the chrager is pulling out more power than it is produceing hence the stall? |

rapidcossie wrote: so the revs drop and the chrager is pulling out more power than it is produceing hence the stall? As someone said its due to the large plenum volume and the ICV just cant keep up so revs drop off too quickly and the car stalls, makes you look like a tit at lights and can get interesting going round a roundabout with no power or powersteering ________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

intercooler is before the plenum and ISCV so how does it effect it? |

Not exactly sure but i think its because the icv has too big of a volume of air to monitor/control and cant react accurately/quickly enough to stop the engine stalling, i.e you have all the air in the intercooler and boost piping and intake manifold, where as in the standard set up all you have is the air in the intake manifold,i think the revised map solves the stalling issue somehow but not sure what is different, Or i could be completely wrong but this is how i see it ________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

if the ICV was letting too much air thru it would raise the revs not drop them? |

Yeah it is on these set ups, Rich W's is different as he's got his throttle body after the charger although he is on aftermarket management,If you look on page 9 on this pdf (air ducting) it explains the two different ways of fitting the charger setup http://www.rotrex.com/pdfs/Rotrex_C-type_supercharger_installation_instructions-V1.4.pdf ________________________________________ Team Supercharged Gti-6™ |

euan, are you standing asking davey what to say again haha, Dave, depends what map you have as there is diff maps from rich as to what set up your running, mine was stalling but that was due to my wiring an having 2 wires round the wrong way!! ________________________________________ In my garage just now2003 BMW M3 & 2009 L200 Raging Bull & Audi Q5 S Line AX stock rod & Saxo Stock rod Sold the bike an charged rallye an bought a caravan, midlife crisis or what! |
