I have just bought a 306 Rallye to build into a race car for the 2010 Cannons MSA TinTop Challenge, it will eventually have around 220 bhp and be as light as possible.

Started off by stripping the car so the shell can be prepared, and found the previous owner had filled it with Dynomat! Will have it all removed by the end of today hopefully, all the interior parts being removed will be up for sale very soon!

Trophy's are the bosses, spent years doing European Rallycross. That's about a quarter of them in the pic!

Orange wheels are from the SEAT Leon that's in the background, nice bit of kit, I sold mine the other day as it cost so much to run, hence the 306 build.

lwgti-6 the arch liners will be coming off soon if you still need some Wink

Got some more of the interior out tonight, and removed some of the Dynomat. Tried some 15 x 8 ET0 wheels on, bit too wide really which is a shame! Anyone know what ET the old BTCC cars ran?

i would guess at something like et15?, std is 18?

what gearbox you going to use?

I'll give Ash a shout or speak to a mate of a mate who's runs one of the BTCC cars. I can always go wider at a later date if needed.

Gearbox wise I'll just run the standard six speed for now, with a Tran X LSD. Need to try and build the car on a budget!

Engines are free as such, but you are limited by wheel and tyre combo which should mean it keeps cost and corner speed down/level. Can use composite panels which is ideal, so I'll be making doors, bonnet bootlid etc over the coming months!

I have a couple of mates that run in tintops your gona need to get the car as light as possible and get as much n/a power as you can as you will be running in the 2 litre class and up against 250 + BHP Hondas

Different tintops that one is. They do 40-50 min races with driver swaps.

Can be either, but N/A would probably be more reliable, and allow the use of the standard gearbox. Last time I bolted a turbo on to a Peugeot I couldn't find a box to cope with the torque!

We have a building dedicated to composites at work so I'll make all the moulds in my spare time.

Sounds like an excellent project! Would be great to see some lightweight panels for 306!

Old BTCC Speedlines are ET23. For 8in wide wheels you probably want ET of about 5mm to give the best clearance.
I am sure that there will be a lot of interest if you were to produce some arch extensions/wider arches as some people have on 205s. Looks like 306s are getting used more as a base for race cars and to have access to cheap slicks means going to 17in size and 8in wide wheels

Yeah it will be good! We already make this kit, but it's too wide for my liking and isn't allowed in the regs:

Wheel wise I'll probably go for a 7 x 15 ET0 to start with like Ash used to run, I'll convert some 205 Bilstein bits to fit suspension wise, along with repositioning the tops to give 3-4 degree of camber on the front. I
