I got one of these once, sacked it off and used a copper one instead. I can see how they'd seal on the thread due to the rubber inner seal, but there's no crushability. Wouldn't trust them myself.

They don't seal on the thread, none do, they seal between the sump and the plug, same as a copper washer.

Less cheap when you change your oil and have to buy another 1 mile later when you top up your coolant and see mayo Razz

They don't seal on the thread, the rubber seals to the sump and to the head, like the copper ones, the washer bit just stops the rubber seal getting damaged, they're fine to use.

No, the gearbox plug is M16, whereas the engine sump plug is M14.

Look in Halfords for a car that uses a M16 sump plug?

Some stores have a better range than others.

That's the part number for the sump plug washer mate, not the gearbox drain plug washer. Wink

All copper washers are crushable to some degree, due to them being soft copper.

    This is true. Yes

For the cost of the drain plug and washer it's worth getting both when doing a change in my opinion. Smile

not really, the solid copper ones may compress a little, but I sure hope they would not "crush"

Sorry, crushable as in gets thinner when torqued up correctly, providing the same effect as the hollow crush type.

I just buy a bag full that lasts a few years, never had any leak issues once the surface has been cleaned before fitting washer. I have however used the rubber edge type and had some leaks from them in the past.
