musclebeach wrote: And how's this Old school motor coming on then? Cheers for asking! Its taking longer than expected due to money more than anything. Not excluding the fact it is a much bigger job than I realised in the first place Have bought some lovely bits for it recently with my bonus in work: Full perspex kit Carbon fibre boot OMP 6 point cage Custom 2.5" stainless zorst Only the top one was brand new, the rest were second hand, so saved a fair bit! Basically it turns over off the starter motor, need to get the fuel pump wired up and throw a gallon of fuel in to get it starting properly. Have just discovered I have the wrong rear engine mount, which expalins why I cant get the gear linkage to fit, so im on the hunt for a mount (which isnt as easy as you'd thnk ) But in reality should have it running in the next few weeks, and then its pretty much ready to do a trackday. Woot Woot. Will be April though as im off snowboarding a week tomorrow to Austria, and will be skint (again) ________________________________________ Team "310bhp/tonne"Team "Old Skool Kool" Team "Faster than a standard 6. Quick updateHave now sorted out the problem of it running "like a bunch of f*cks" to quote my mate Running on just 1 cylinder (which is quite impressive IMO!) was the issue; clogged/f*cked injectors was the cause. Now running on 3 but have just purchased some replacement injectors so that side of things should be sorted by the weekend. Then when its running normally I can get everything up to temp and check that the engine isnt actually f*cked Gotta love buying second hand engines on a vauxhall forum!! ________________________________________ Team "310bhp/tonne"Team "Old Skool Kool" Team "Faster than a standard 6. Last 2 Saturdays have been totally dedicated to this. Engine problem was luckily just a knackered lifter so it purrs like a kitten now. Gear linkage was manufactured yesterday as its an 8v shell so the linkage on those goes under the car, but the turbo engine requires it to be in the car. Exhaust is on, had to make all new brackets as the previous owner cut them off when he put a side exit one on it Cage is located in with some bolts ready to be welded in next week. Loads of other little bits that I won't list, but the list of things now left is very short. Aiming for a shakedown at the end of the month ________________________________________ Team "310bhp/tonne"Team "Old Skool Kool" Team "Faster than a standard 6. No really, both of them are" |
