Totally agree as iv done it many times, seen their face which looks annoyed i was surprised myself the other day when i realised how much a mk5 golf gti stuggled to get away from me. dont think he was happy!! and have been neck n neck with a new type r too before now. not completely standard myself, but still impressed! so yeah, i'd fully agree that 7.2 is about right! ________________________________________ China Blue GTi-6 |

sorry for the size but at least you can read it C612 (xsara vts) is me, the rallye is jib and the 6 is prism7guy york measures 0-60 in the right hand lane and 60ft in the left, i prefer the left so haven't got many 0-60 times, but i reckon i did it in just under 7 against the astra gte. |

The right hand column where it says 60ft is 0-60 This is my best effort so far - standard engine, 1/3 tank, measured with a gtech meter ________________________________________ High boost '6 for weekends406 2.1 Executive for weekdays |

what is the difference on weight between the 306 and the Rally? I doubt its enough to make 3 tenths difference. The only proper test I have seen of performance for these cars was by autocar- does anyone have the original articles? I think the Xsara VTS was a bit slower to 60 as it couldn't make it in second. The tests were conducted at a proper test track with measurement equipment. Remember all you boy racers to get the times they got in Autocar it means smashing the clutch and transmission- clutch in at max torque figure then throttle flat to the floor including gear changes till you hit 65 on the clock. Remember cars speedos over read so to get to 60 you often need to see 65 on the clock, even more possibly if you have 50 profile tires. I'm sure i have seen software for an iphone that uses the built in accelerometer to measure acceleration, meant to be quite accurate. |

oh and doesn't it depend which type r as the japanese cars have as much as 217bhp as standard compared with the 197bhp of the english cars? I bet a crappy uk one on regular fuel only makes 185ish. |

Not looked at that yet on my car as air con doesn't work and i'm spending anything trying to get it to work. |

What does the ph1 cars actually weigh- i had the VTS on the scales at the tip and i think after deducting my weight it only weighed about 1100kg |

ph1 VTS weighs a tad under 1200kgWOT relay is part of the aircon circuit, leading me to think that it does turn the aircon off at WOT, there is still the weight of the aircon unit though, i think that makes up most of the weight difference between 6 and rallye and the VTS does make 60 in second, how else do you explain my 0-60 times of around 7 seconds dead? |
