That is how a cage should be fitted, have mentioned it a few times on here in the past as a lot of track day guys seem to think it is ok to weld directly to the floor and should the car ever roll the cage leg will punch a hole straight through the floor, also enables the cage to sit higher up in the cabin so you dont crack your bonce everytime you get in and out of the thing

It's a bit worrying that the rear part of the cage not only has a plate welded to the chassis that it's been bolted to, but has also had the bolting plate (which appears to be too thin anyway) welded over afterwards...

And why has the cage moved at some point?

No, the plate is welded to the stiffening plate too?

And it's bent like a banana....

But ive gota take the back arches off and risk fooking them up, plus i'd need a donor car, which i cant afford, im also not allowed 2 cars at home at once LOL and i wont be allowed to strip both of them down either, as much as i'd love to swop all the bits over onto a blank canvess, its just not viable realy

So lets get this straight, the front mounts where the cage bolts to the box looking mount welded to the floorpan are ok?

The rear mounts that are bolted and welded to a mounting plate which in turn is welded to the arch are gash Dunno If the cage mount wasnt welded but just bolted to the mounting plate would that be ok?

Cheers all Thumbs up

The questions you need to ask are:

1) Why is the rear bolt-in mounting plate so thin
2) Why, when they already have a reinforcement plate welded in, have they then had to weld the cage in as well as bolt it down?
3) Why is it bent........

I managed to get the cage seperated today and get the dash half out before i got annoyed and gave in.

I had to grind the welds off the bits at the back of the cage, undo all the bolts and go nuts with a hammer and chizel LOL

My quaife LSD arrived today aswell, so im please with that Smile

Im working tomorrow, so i shall be working at the weekend, will have the dash, engine and wiring loom off by sunday i reckon, then it can go to get jigged Smile

Boxes on floor are also another way to have shorter legs, so you can sight and weld on the backstays around the top, then weld in the main loop.

Another way is to make a hole in the floor for the hoop legs, then you can drop the arms through to weld the top of the backstays.

Its seems like a bolt in though so im talking cack.

Wide track conversion, the wishbones are wider, aswell as the shafts, track rod ends, pugsport suspension

back is standard i think with just wider wheels to suit
