That is how a cage should be fitted, have mentioned it a few times on here in the past as a lot of track day guys seem to think it is ok to weld directly to the floor and should the car ever roll the cage leg will punch a hole straight through the floor, also enables the cage to sit higher up in the cabin so you dont crack your bonce everytime you get in and out of the thing________________________________________ puglessPhase 1 GTI 6 1996-1997 Subaru Impreza GB270 2007-2008 rare spiderman comics same day international courier |

It's a bit worrying that the rear part of the cage not only has a plate welded to the chassis that it's been bolted to, but has also had the bolting plate (which appears to be too thin anyway) welded over afterwards...And why has the cage moved at some point? ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. But ive gota take the back arches off and risk fooking them up, plus i'd need a donor car, which i cant afford, im also not allowed 2 cars at home at once and i wont be allowed to strip both of them down either, as much as i'd love to swop all the bits over onto a blank canvess, its just not viable realy ________________________________________ Dimma + Gt35 turbo =![]() Solid rear beam mounts £130 07889376885 Dan |

So lets get this straight, the front mounts where the cage bolts to the box looking mount welded to the floorpan are ok?The rear mounts that are bolted and welded to a mounting plate which in turn is welded to the arch are gash If the cage mount wasnt welded but just bolted to the mounting plate would that be ok?Cheers all ________________________________________ Just Drive It |

The questions you need to ask are:1) Why is the rear bolt-in mounting plate so thin 2) Why, when they already have a reinforcement plate welded in, have they then had to weld the cage in as well as bolt it down? 3) Why is it bent........ ________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Boxes on floor are also another way to have shorter legs, so you can sight and weld on the backstays around the top, then weld in the main loop.Another way is to make a hole in the floor for the hoop legs, then you can drop the arms through to weld the top of the backstays. Its seems like a bolt in though so im talking cack. ________________________________________ 1.9DTurboChildminder of 2.0 4WD Cosworth Maxi www.nur-motorsport.co.uk for Carbon Bits. |
