oi! less of the Dyslexia bashing guy's, there is a difference between Dyslexia and illiterateness Ninja

to be fair though, the XSi head is a very good design, if you fit the same uprated parts to an XSi lump as you did to a gti6 the final power outputs would be very close...

Shane, if you want anyone to take you seriously, posting unsubstantiated claims and firing off childish derogatory comments to anyone who disbelieves you is not going to get you very far now is it? Also, please for the love of all things cute and fluffy, learn how to spell correctly.

pretty sure it doesn't. it doesn't have the same rev limiter either. plus the ports in the head are more restrictive, and on standard management there's no way that just adding 6 parts will make it faster than a 6, and that's before the 6's closer ratio gearbox comes into play.

the head ports are actually pretty close to Mi16 i;ve heard from PeterT, so you can get good power....

that still leaves the management/gearbox/limiter/double valve springs/. it may be close to mi16, but even it it was 'as good as' mi16, you still have a cat and emissions test that the Mi16 didn't (at least the 1,9 anyway), and even then, it' still less powerful... Can you see where this is going?

doesn't matter one bit about emissions, a 280 bhp MI16 will still pass an emissions test...

also doesn't matter about the double valv4e springs, these get thrown away for some singles when you take an XU over 200 hp anyway, management you would need to sort on any tuned engine, not just this one.

gearbox? who wants a weak 6 speed?

I aree, mild tuning in a normal road car its not the best base, BUT, take it further and it doesn't matter which you start on, the J4R head would probably come up trumps because there's more meat in the head for an engine builder to play with.

come on you are being c*nts with him, please lets just not ruin another thread

he was a nob in the other thread but hes just sticking a project thread up

kipps got good gains fitting the inlet and exhaust manifold on hsi xsi engine and it was 160bhp from memory without cams

160bhp by adding just the inlet and exhaust manifold!?
Im intrigued by this, surly if you can get 160bhp then it would possibly be close to the 6 as the xsi is lighter.
Can someone please confirm if its possible to get that power just from doing those to things..

xsi is lighter?! you would not even notice a thing on the road, except for the gti6 going past you still. i think i was optimistic with 160 bhp with just the manifolds, i'd think you'd need the cams too and maybe even a remap. at which point you have spent near enough modding the xsi engine as it'd cost you to buy the gti6 in the first place cos they go for nothing, plus you get the standard issue 6spd box

xsi = below the gti6, and always will be

i f*cked around with xsi's when i was younger. best place for the xsi engine is in the bin. i was kind though, and put mine in my bedroom for 4yrs. fact

just buy a six. although your profile says you have one, i have reservations though considering the xsi questions. people with gti6's don't bother with xsi's ever again Big grin

(except Karn)

buy an s16 engine, they're 155/1600bhp standard, and you can get better power from them again. but not something i would entertain given the gti6 engine readily available

Your right i will go for a gti aslong as the insurance is right. Just tempted by the xsi because its just as good looking as the 6 - the seats.
