A mate went to open the boot of my Pug the other day, except the button got stuck. I opened the locks and it still hasn't popped out. For the past few days it has just been stuck in there. Any idea how I can get it to pop out?

I once had this last year when it was very cold, and the button was frozen in, leading to me being unable to shut the bootlid for a journey, but it did eventually pop out as soon as the car thawed out.

Mine was stuck once, sprayed with WD40 and used the key to wiggle it a bit.

I had this happen to me on a cold morning.

I ended up taking the plastic backing on the inside off to push it out. Think its about 6 or 8 torx screws.

Lashings of WD40 or equivalent, then a massaging of the button. Smile

Well, I put WD40 in the other day, and no change. I'll give another go before I take the rear cover off Smile.

Well, it popped out by itself today. My mate tried to open it when he borrowed my wheel brace as he got a flat, but it popped out an hour later. Whilst it's operating like normal again, it does feel quite 'gritty' so I guess dirt ingress is why it got stuck in the first place. Any ideas on getting the crud out?

BUMP BUMP!

Mine just stuck in, figured the boot was frozen shut so busted the tools out! Searched and found this thread afterwards...

I climbed in the boot and removed the rear pannel where the wiper is. There is a wire in there which releases the boot, just a light tug and it pops open.

Proceeded to WD40 the shit out of everything in the hope that it solves the problem!

I'd get some spray grease or something similar on there, WD40 doesn't help particularly other than initially freeing things up I've found

Graphite lock lubricant is what you want, try your local key-cutters, they usually sell small tubs for a couple of quid.

Just remove the complete boot lock, disassemble it and clean it properly and apply some grease. Its a bit of a fiddle to get it out and even more to get it in, but once done that you'll have a long trouble free time with your boot button Smile
