New update at last!
Rub strips were finnished a few weeks back and looked good but still had slight orange peel from using the spray cans.
Not satisfied with that, I took to the wet & dry again and wet sanded them back again with 1500 paper, gave them time to dry and then went at them with some deswirler and polish to buff out the scratches and bring up the lacquer to a good shine again...all by hand I might add which takes bloomin ages
Left side is unpolished after sanding and right shows the difference a little g3/deswirler makes. oh, and a lot of elbow grease!
And the finnis. Hard to see in photo's
Petrol cap strip, picture is turd, sorry...
Also refinnished my other badge...
Also went about cleaning up and painting the rusty foglights and towing hook...
Also dewipered the tailgate and bought a phase 2 boot badge from pug which I promptly hacked up and took to peices to make it fit the Phase 1 boot. Even managed to fit my original lock barrel as well so I can use the original key to open the boot if the cl should ever fail
Before pic taken last year...
And after...
I am very pleased with the strips, they came out very well for a DIY job. The only down side is that there is a slight line under the strips there the older bigger ones rubbed on the paint as Carl had mentioned before. Hardly noticable though.
My original spoiler is almost ready for fitting as well. Just need to let the lacquer harden, sand and polish, then it will be replacing the Ecosse one in the picture.
Then it's on to the wheels!!!
