not sure of the MLC, but there is a gearbox used on the XU10J2TE (2.0 8v Turbo) engine that's not a BE (used in 406 Xantia XM)

I'm told that the bellhousing from the XU10J2TE (2.0 8v Turbo) engine mated to the ML box will fit the 6 engine, there is a thread on 205 drivers somewhereDunno

Edit, I was told this...
quote:
someone on drivers is fittin ML6c 6speed box from 407 v6 and 2.2hdi. He using bell housing from ml5t box from 406 2.0t to fit it to xu. The diff and shafts are huge, it hydraulic clutch and cable gears. Subframe needs modfing abit. Some people have kept cable operatin master cylinder mounted near battery. Word is cable gears is easy to fit, and smoother reliable.

Cool

they are sequential. Vic lee racing made some adaptors for s16 engines to run these but im guessing they is bloody expensive

ML boxes are fitted to the XU10J2TE engine, the bell housing is different and that's all,
Considering they share the design with the MA box they are pretty bullet proof.
The Diff's are different thou depending on the engine type out output.

they don't have to, I doubt there's not much demand!!

but if its an ML box there's a good chance it'll fit.

they probably dont list it for the Citroen XM or Xantia but it'll fit Wink

There is a lot of information on Servicebox.

CP as far as I can see in the 406 is all 16 x 69 regardless of what engine they are fitted to, whether is be XUD11 or XU10J2TE or ES9J4.

XUD and XU are the same bellhousing Wink
DW10 has different bellhousing, unsure if XU's will fit that pattern.

Another interesting fact, XUD11 and XU10J2TE both use the same clutch, though there are 2 sizes listed, 230mm and 235mm friction plate! (still smaller than the ES9J4's 242mm plate Shock )

Move on to the ML6 CJ box in the 407 and there are no XU/XUD bellhousings, only EW/DW/ES, these I'm unsure will fit the XU, or whether the bellhousing from the ML5 can be fitted to the ML6.

CP's vary, 14x69 on the EW12, 14x67 on the ES9, 17x71 on the DW10 and DW12.

plenty to get on with LOL

We need a guinee pig or joint venture to get hold of a ml6 box and check the ml5 bell housing will fit, clutch compatibility, wheel clearance etc. Can always sell it if its a no go. Im sure someone will have an ml5 knocking about cheap. Then its a case of gathering interest on here, 205 drivers, aussie frogs etc and speaking to mr quaife(website says they welcome customer requests). Would also be worth looking into the gear ratios between v6 and hdi boxes and whether the gears are stronger in the higher powered c5 hdis(think 270lbft).

Just out of sheer curiosity, anyone know how this gearbox compares to the BE for size? I mean, would there still be the "lock" issue in a 306, would it get better/worse? Unsure

from what i know the subframe needs abit of chopping to accomodate the diff but these are 205 lads with gti6 engines. So there subframes may well be smaller. cant see the box actually being any longer than the six box though. Unsure

A qoute from the 205 forum

Just wondering if anyone has any info about which cars had the best BE3 casings. The problem I have is that the standard 205 casings start to split around the diff area once power/torque reaches over 230ish. Shock

I as looking at the gti6 box the other day and noticed loads of hairline cracks in the alloy diff casing, is this crap alloy surface cracks or terminal?
