Only got one hand at the mo (fractured wrist, arm in plaster) so the modified maifold won't be progressing much until that comes off I'm afraid buddy. Always seems to be plenty for sale though on here.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area. No worries, i'll get a pic up tonight of how it looked when i first cut the trumpets off, and take a better detailed one tomorrow (with a tool of some desciption for carl)These were taken the day I first cut it open, and as you can see only 3 of them have been trimmed slightly ________________________________________ TEAM 205 GTi-5TEAM Phase 1 GTi-6 xbox Live tag: SilverGTi6 |

daveyboy wrote: The larger throttle body that Longmans supply, is that a stand-alone mod or do you need a remap or other work to make it go. Just wondering if its a straight bolt-on job. (As those are the kind I like ) The body can be modified yourself using a flapwheel/dremel tool. Make sure you strip it down to just the butterfly assembly (a bit of metal dust in the TPS could really ruin your day )and just go at it like the clappers. Do both sides of the butterfly too, then offer up the gasket to see how much you've shaved off. I think that the body longmans do has a bit more work to it than that, the bore diameter is larger and they use a bigger butterfly don't they? ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I think the butterfly is the same size tbh, but without the thick plate that runs across the centre of it. I can measure the bore size of mine with a digital caliper if you like tomorrow, though i dare say its about 71mm round both front and back ________________________________________ TEAM 205 GTi-5TEAM Phase 1 GTi-6 xbox Live tag: SilverGTi6 |

Is that all they do? Did that to my last car and the throttle response did get a bit more snappy. Would appreciate it if you could measure tho just to make sure they dont do anything super trick to it ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I am gonna sound like I know what I am talking about now!!When you weld theses back up fill the inside with argon or some other sort of welding gas and the inside edge of the weld will not oxides and will give a nice smooth weld on the inside |

Pretty sure i've seen a BTCC one inside and everything is smoothed out around the ports. Just cutting the trumpets down will only have the effect of changing the runner length, i agree with Tony here. Smooth it all out inside ________________________________________ Cress87 wrote: This place is getting beyond a joke. Hi everyone, decided to spend a few hours working on the manifold tonight and this is how it stands at the moment. This was my attempt at keeping the aluminium swarf out of my plaster-cast! Will hopefully get the rest of it ground down tomorrow. ________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. I sell new and used welding equipment in the Hampshire area.
