It is a standard mount at the minute i am going to replace it though as it is suppose to give problems otherwise. Thanks for all the good comments, it has taken a while to do it to this standard but i hope once it is finished it will all be worth it. Not done a great deal to it since i had it running, going to remove the rear mount housing and press in the aftermarket bush then just sort the exhaust out are go from there, i seem to be having a few issues mounting and routing the coolant pipes around the back of the block, it all seems to run too close to the manifold and i need to find the coolant hoses i need. I found if you use a 306 Xsi distro block on the back of the block you then block off one of the outlets, you can then connect the expansion tank to the metal pipe that runs along the back of the block, this mean you only have one hose near the manifold which is the one for the heater matrix, then run the other heater matrix pipe into the back of the thermostat housing, this is how mine is set up and have no temperature problems whatsoever. I put an 'S' shaped hose coming out of the distro block which moves the standard heater matrix hose away from the manifold. With a slightly lower theromostat mine runs about 5 degrees cooler than the standard gti6. Hope that makes some kind of sence! Also I would say one of BBM's bottom bushes or similar is a must have as its all rather tight. ________________________________________ 205 GTi-6 = 179.2 Bhp @ 6650Rpm - SOLDSeat Leon Cupra R 225 |

Done a little more to it today, managed to fit the rest of the exhaust to the car including a cat so it will run just as it intended like in the 306's, had to fit a cat pipe from the 306 and mate it to the original cat off of the 205, i can tell you it looks a work of art. Also fitted the linkage to the subframe and fitted one linkage the larger of the two, not to sure on which one is used for the short one as a standard 306 one seems to small, anyone help on that small matter? Other than perfecting the wiring loom on sat/sun and fitting all the last bits in i think its about there. Things to finish- Perfecting the wiring loom (hopefully this weekend) Fit the missing linkage unsure which it is? Plumb in the coolant hoses Fit stiffer rear engine mounting fit o/s drive shaft Fill gearbox with oil Fit the rest of the car back together, front bumper and trim, then it is going home to hibernate till next summer. I may have missed something. Standard of work is very impressive, reminds me when i built my original MI engined car a few years ago!Just a word of caution with the master cylinder clearance. When i originally dropped my engine in I had similar clearance to you, however once on the road the engine settled and the master cylinder touched that tapped lug on the cam cover. So much so in fact the engine was pushing the master cylinder in and dragging the brakes on. This was using a full set of BBM solid mounts. You may get lucky but its likely you will have to reangle the master cylinder and/or chop that lug off the cam cover. ________________________________________ 205 GTI6- Ledas, Tran-X diff, billet 4 pots, big bar rear beam, Jenveys and Emerald.Black P2 306 Gti6- Lowered, PTS rear spoiler- the daily hack! |

If your still using the selector arm circled in the picture you might have problems fitting the 205 linkages. Best to change that for one off the original 205 box. |

Thought that gearbox looked similer Yes i have ordered the new selector arm from peugeot, the one needed is a straight arm with the fitting for the linkage underneath. lol, im sure i painted the end part thats bolted on the end of the box in silver hammerite not long ago, well its not painted now, just looks like it did before, hehe , that powder coating would be safe though i would of thought. i didnt think the gearbox would get hot enough to make the paint go walkies!!________________________________________ andrew315rawson@live.co.ukMoonstone phase 7 gti6 My Project thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=119992&page=1 |

Mine did and i got that off the 205 site a couple of years ago. Mine seemed to work fine, but i'm not sure if it's the "proper" way of doing so to speak.________________________________________ Seat Leon Cupra FR / 306 GTI6 / Breaking 205 GTI6 / Caterham 7 / Mercedes Sprinter 311CDI LWB Sold: Fisher Fury - Laguna DCI Estate - P1 306 XSI - E30 BMW 325i Baur Convertible - Daihatsu Fourtack - Suzuki GSXR600 - 205 Rallye |
