That reminds me... the printer is sorting out samples as we speak, but unfortunately I'm away at an exhibition in Manchester until next week. So I'm going to go over there and drop off my original set for him to compare his samples and then if all goes well I can get prices and samples up on here next week.

I think I'll have to ask for everyone to pay in advance if that's ok. Not only do I not have a spare £1000 or whatever to pay for decals, I also don't want to be stuck with a load of sets if half of you dissappear!

Right I've had a better chat with the printer about the possible issues and its clear we can't get an exact copy made because that would require special printers and templates that make it un-economical for anything less than 1000+ copies. Clearly this is the reason why nobody has been able to get copies made yet.

In theory this only affects the stripes, all the writing should be 100% accurate.

However with regard to the stripes I'm confident we can get something made thats 99% accurate. I should have some samples to show you by Tuesday of next week.

Rick-Rallye...

Sorry to 'butt-in' on your thread.. but surely it would be simpler & cheaper if someone (ie. me!) created some exact copies in Illustrator. These could then be emailed to ANY vinyl decal company & produced for a few pounds. No need for 1000's to be printed etc.

I recreated an unavailable wing decal for my Eunos, & found a friendly Vinyl Graphics place that produced them for me for something like £2 delivered!!

If this '1000' deal falls through - just let me know & I can do some copies for you in illustrator. (subject to studying close up pics of the Rallye graphics)

Edit to say: I read what you said the printer said, about needing special printing process to re-create them... If this is the case, then ignore my post, but I don't quite understand why they would be saying that - they are just coloured decals!
Anyway - get in touch if you need my help.

The complications aren't to do with the source images they are to do with the metallic effect of the decals.

Thanks for the offer, I'll see where we're at when I speak to the printer this afternoon.

Right, been to see the printer and he's done some tests and says he can't do them Roll eyes

But... he's passed on the job to yet another printer (this'll be the third) who apparently has got better machines and should be able to reproduce the stickers. Going to see some samples tomorrow at 5:15.

Fingers crossed

Well as far as I can tell as soon as I find someone who can do it they'll be chomping at the bit to get it done because its quite a big order.

I just need to get these samples done (which'll hopefully be this afternoon) then ask everyone for a payment to secure the order.

All being well it shouldn't be too long to wait now Happy

As I said it should be less than £50 for a full set, but until I get the final costs from the printers I've no idea

Right I've just been to see this new printer and I have to say I'm very impressed Cool

Its a very professional outfit with a number of in-house designers and they've got some very good kit.

When I got there he'd printed (and machine cut) the large stripes sticker and aside from a little colour matching they looked brilliant for a first effort Big grin He's going to tweak the colours a little and I'll go back to see the finished set early next week.

I have to stress that they're not EXACTLY the same, because the outline on the stripes sticker will have to be in grey and not metallic. That's the only difference though and it'll be a near as dammit colour match and from 2 feet away you won't be able to tell the difference. All other stickers will be exact matches.

I'm presuming this will be ok for everyone. I will of course take pictures but I promise you won't be able to tell the difference even in photos Cool

They're going to work out costs for me based on the number of sets in this list. I'll then need to ask you all for payment as this'll cost over £1000 and I can't put the cash forward myself.

I'll need to put a payment deadline on because otherwise 20 odd people may be left waiting for the sake of a couple of stragglers.

I'll reiterate I expect these to cost less than £50 for a full set. I'll PM you all with precise prices based on your order at some point next week, and I'm sure we would all appreciate a quick response from everyone Smile

Please double check your order in the list above because this is what I'll be giving to the printers next week.

If you haven't yet added your name to the list then please do so asap. I will however ask them to hold onto the original graphics just in case anyone has missed this thread or for future owners, though I should point out if you ask them to print a single set later it'll cost substantially more because we're able to order in bulk here.
