Bloody hell what's wrong with postmen! Angry

Every single one of you with has said they've folded the bloody things.

There's a bloody piece of card in there which could easily have been a card photo frame or something.

I'm dissappointed about that to be honest Dry

Looked like mine had been folded at some point but the postie knocked on the door to deliver it. Just fitted them now, make a real difference when your used to seeing the car without any.

Indeed, they have to travel by French postal donkey up a long and winding track, I wouldn't expect them to arrive until at least the middle of next week.

How do you guys find the stickering process? I recently had to re-vynl our work vans with HUGE new stickers and to do it without bubbling was a nightmare!

Any preferences on a decent cleaning fluid to get rid of any grime/grease etc?

I've not done this before and don't want to f*ck it up! Happy

Taking it I just need to give it a decent wash where the decals are going, then use a decent cleaning fluid too, to get rid of any grime/grease etc, dry it thoroughly and then just hope they go on right first time? Or would you suggest wet application?

Have been reading this that buckrogers21stc recommended on an early thread.

edit: Sorry moondog only just saw that you asked about the sticking process too.

O.K, now that we all have our lovely new stickers is anyone able to upload some pictures of their correct posistions, if you look at a few members cars you will notice quite a few differences. The last car i copied off had them in the wrong place which is why I've now got some more.

I personally would put the stickers on dry, the doors are quite fiddly and putting them on wet wouldn't work very well IMO around the door gap. They're only small anyway.

Also don't be too rough with them when cleaning. Particularly with the lettering. Its quite easy just to catch a corner with a sponge and eventually the whole letter will come off.

Other than that, its easy Smile

Fitted my side stripes today. The drivers side went smoothly......but to my horror...the passenger door had been re-lacquered at some point during a previous ownership, and they didn't mask the decal off.......

.....resulting in this.....

Same thing happened with the bonnet aswell. Weird eh?

At least you know where it goes LOL But not upsidedown though. Looks like your going to have to get it rubed down and relacquered

I've been trying to work out the best way of putting these on from the site I mentioned before (post 261) but it looks a little more tricky than I first thought, and I really don't want to f*ck it up!

Any help/tips would be really appreciated.

Main thing that I've wondered about is the door decals, on both the door and the front panel with that gap between. Is there a particularly good ways of doing this?

Cheers folks.

I found after looking through a hell of alot of pictures on the rallye register that there really is no "Correct" position for them. I wish Tabbster had put those pictures on before i fitted mine though Sad

I've put door decals on a few times. I've found the best way is to cut the decals with scissors following the curve of the door line. Then put the decal on with a couple of mm overlap so you can curve it around the door gap. Don't panic its not that hard to do.

I fitted mine in one over the door gap then just cut it with a stanly blade flush with the door edge. The warmed it up with a hair drier to make the glue stick a bit better its still there two years later.

Do the dry method, make sure to do it in a dust free area and out of direct sunlight otherwise the decal will suck itself onto the paintwork and f*ck you over heheh.

I clayed my car before-hand then masked were the decals to go so as to line them up with the old ones. then once the old decal was off, clayed and cleaned that area and applied the new decal inside the masking tape 'frame' and hey presto worked well.Big grin
