No but you'll freeze I've got a spare one in the garage that the drain pipe snapped off of so I might rip that to bts later and investigate as iirc that was even noiser than the one in the car.________________________________________ When I've got time I forget what I wanted to do, and when I remember what I wanted to do, I have no time! |

Me being a lazy bas**rd just turned 'em on full and blew some WD40 down the inlet, that sorted it.________________________________________ - Bespoke rollcages/additions/adjustments. Mine also does this sometimes, I took it out as it was also clicking and it had loads of leaves in it, if there is a cheap fix like replacing the bearings then please share!!________________________________________ Ex-China Blue6Ex Team China™ Team Dad Xbox360 live: March1978 PS3 ID: GTi6Jon |

I ended up buying one from an 01 reg car for 30 quid.Havent swapped it over yet so dont want to pull the working one apart but a couple of things ive noticed: The bit that spins is HUGE (about 6 inch diameter and is about 3 inches high) Because of its size theres actually a couple of weights attached to the fan blades on there to balance it (like you do wheels) - I would wager that some peoples have fallen off Its not particulartly loose and free spinning now. I'll get mine swapped before dissecting it |

you drop the blower out from the bottom of the glove box.its easier to do on ph1 306s as you just take the top glovebox out.I have had 2 start of with the sqeeking it eventual ends up giving up and you end up scraping the ice of the windows inside of the car in the winter lol |

Ive swapped mine over and had a go at dismantling my old one.Its basically a big motor with a fan on it, and as with other motors ive seen, its all kinda crimped together. I suppose you can go further and bend the crimps out of the way to get to the bearings but the last motor I pulled apart didnt have bearings in anyway. I just sprayed WD40 where it spins until it stopped dripping black Anyway - heres some pics so you know what it looks like So: undo the 4x T20 screws holding this in the dash and gently pull it out. You will need a T20 with a thin shaft as the last screw is in a difficult to access area; you may need to gently ease the glovebox forward to see what you are doing. Unclip the brown connector Ignore the fact my drain plug has snapped off - just undo this single screw in the base. This picture might also be useful for locating the 4 screws that hold it in the car The fan and motor then lift out of the base. Note the trapped foliage Clean this out, might be worth cleaning the fan blades off too WD40 goes here And here Not really sure if that counts as a FAQ |

I took my heater blower out on Christmas Eve as I was sick of the infamous squeaking. I lubricated both bearings with engine oil. The one at the bottom of the motor and the one that sits under the fan. I gave the motor a good blasting with WD40 as it was quite grubby and cleaned the dead foliage out of the fan. I let the oil soak in to the bearings for a few minutes and put it back in the car. Tested it and the squeak is gone Three days later and the squeak has still not returned The only down side is that I now have the waft of Total Quartz 7000 10w-40 semi-synthetic blowing through the cabin every time I get in the car ________________________________________ 100K China Blue Phase 3 innit!
