I like my goodridge hoses.

Disc wise, you can't go wrong with standard replacements, get them from buypartsby.com.

Pads? Ferodo DS2500's are as good as the M1144's but don't need as much warming up (yet to try either myself).

Halfords DOT 5 brake fluid is also fine (cheap too).

Id have said DS2500's need slightly more heat than 1144s (which are fine even on the first stop in winter), but don't fade as early, I've yet to try the DS2500's on a 306 though, only a Metro, both good choices for fast road though.

Thumbs up to fresh fluid and hoses.

Even then you only want to be using Dot 4.

I'd only recomend 5.1 if you were racing or VERY heavy track day. It's hydroscopic and needs regular changing

Yes

And a lot of DOT 4 fluids are more hygroscopic than DOT5.1's...

Better off with 5.1 as any fluid conforming to the spec has a higher boiling point than Dot 4.

Although a lot of DOT4 fluids are better for track/fast road use than DOT5.1 fluids, and they only don't meet 5.1 standards because they are higher viscosity.

Choices, choices...

i have some braided hoses coming and will be doing a full fluid change at the same time.

i been reading quite a few of these threads in order to find a suitable fluid.

i have to say i am leaning towards DOT 4 as i don't want to be changing it all the time.

the car will be used for occasional road and track day use.

i was thinking of getting Pagid DOT 4 since its cheap and is same manufacturer as OEM pads.

does anyone have experience of it?

I just replaced pads and disks on mine last week.
Brembo disks all round from GSF (got them off matsoki on here Thumbs up) standard rear bendix pads and got some Ferodo DS2500 pads for the front (FCP565).
Changed the fluid for some Castrol SRF which is a DOT4 fluid and am loving them to bits.

They have not been run in yet and have been going easy on them but the improvement is noticable already Smile
I drove iplays 6 last year and he has same apart from disks and they are superb Thumbs up

Also, I had 1144's a few years ago but binned them because of the constant squeeling.
There were a bad batch going around at the time so they might be ok if you decide to go with them.

Everything I have heard about the 2500's is good so can't argue with that Smile

And just noticed this thread is 3 years old!!! Laugh my ass off

+1 for RBF660, which incidentally is "only" a DOT4. As with most things, a good DOT4 can easily outperform a cheap DOT5.1. I've used nothing but 660 in mine and have never boiled it once, if you're not racing it'll be fine.
