right,
i've got a slight whinning sound coming from the engine,

the whinning gets higher pitched as i accelerate, and a lower pitch as the revs from the engine drop

what could this be?

hopefully it isn't that costly Unsure

Probably something on the Aux belt. Could be either of the pulleys, or the PAS/alternator

Best thing to do is take the belt of and give everything a spin

Remove the aux belt and then try.

yep id have a guess at the roller under the aux belt. mine does that sometimes

it only does it under accelerating, how do i remove the aux belt Unsure
easy job?
i'm getting one of rich's billet pullies so should i wait till i fit that?

you shouldn't need to drive it!
just have it running and turn the throttle see if i wines take the belt of or out of the way

thats a strange on then because all the relavent parts are in use when the engine is running
reving the engine the only thing not been used is the gear box afaik Unsure

so surley it should show???

Might wanna try replacing the gearbox oil - cheap enough and easy enough job....

gearbox oil isn't that old to be fair but i know it does need topping up, could this be it?

but so does mine somtimes and i've just changed the g-box oil! i'd put money on the roller!
u'll need a good long 13mm ring/rachet spanner for that little job! Wink

a tentioner is the best part of £70
