ive sourced a same size thermostat but it opens at 87 instead of the standard 83.

my car seems to operate as normal....78-79 while on the move, then upto 90 to do the eternal 90-100 fan shuffle when sat still or in traffic.

ive always thought it runs a little cold while on the move hence me finding this thermostat.

my thoughts were....it should run identicle to before but 4 degrees hotter while on the move?

with benefits including
. silghtly better mpg from hotter engine/combustion temps.
. more heat through heater matrix.
. optimized flow/reduced engine load while warming up.

any reasons i shouldnt?

I always stick with oe 83° stats.

Nearly all pattern ones have run hotter than they say, and one brand nearly took the temp till the fans kicked in

well... i fitted the 87 degree thermostat....been two weeks so far
thing sits at about 81-82 on the move now...
no real change to stand stil 90-100 shuffle

cabin blower gets hotter.

the apperture on the thermostat was smaller than standard so it must be getting more flow through the engine/matrix even when fully open.

no noticeable change in mpg.

im tempted to find a 90 degree thermostat.....maybe ill save that for next christmas

all in all. im happy
