Hi all,I have recently picked up some second hand shocks for my car. My question is the yellow powder coat has lifted in places. starting too look a bit ugly/tatty! Is it worth rubbing back areas with wire brush? and coating with some spray paint? If so what's the best paint and process? has anyone done this before? Ppl thoughts and experiences welcomed please. Thanks James |

Unless you're planning to have a show car, you'll never really see these bits. However, I get the need to put fresh parts on your car! (and now is the time to do it when they are off the car).I recently got a rattle can made up at a local paint shop. I think it was about a tenner but he will mix any paint and any colour. I got the 2k paint. Prior to this, I was looking at somewhere like https://www.riolettcustomaerosols.co.uk who do the same. The Bilstein yellow looks very similar to the colour i did my beam in which was RAL1021 Rape Yellow. Hi James I sent my old dampers off to Bilstein for a full Refurb and RE-valving they charged me £90 the pair but if it’s only cosmetic just touch them up yourself and use and enjoy them mucker  |

Thanks guys for the advice. I was told they haven't done much work, so hoping they are all ok mechanically. So its just a cheap touch up with a rattle can I think im heading for before I fit them to my car. Its looking like Halfords is the best bet for price and availability in these times. I can use my daily exercise to cycle to the store.... Got a chance to break down the front shocks. Can anyone help tell me what springs I have? the front shocks and springs I was told were B8's with 30mm lowering springs, im trying to work out if that's going to give me the desired ride height I want on my pug.   |

Yes they have eibach written on them hiding behind the tape measure in the photo. Do these only come in 35mm? |

I saw earlier that the 35mm ones are 13.5mm thick and the OEM spec ones are 12.25mm thick. |

Thanks deeturbo, just went down the shed to measure13.5mm O.D on the coil spring, so they should be the 35mm lowering ones. |

So I ordered some new dust covers for the Bilstein. I should know that cheap never pays!They are completely the wrong size! Can anyone tell me were I can get correct replacement dust covers please?  |

Hi, Please can anyone shed some more light on the springs that I have please? I have done a quick google search and had no luck. They seem to be giving me a 55-60mm height difference when lined up against OEM shocks and springs.  Thanks for your help in advance. |

They look the same code and springs as the front Dampers I used many years ago and the springs were designed with Bilstein to make the car sit 30mm lower / drop at the front Don’t worry about The 60mm length difference because it’s all about the poundage and spring material which is massively different to OEM ...if you could But can’t -cut the OEM spring to the same height As the Eibach spring and lowered the car the Eibach would probably sit much higher I would just trial fit them and see m8 ...not a difficult job ...fantastic dampers / spring package and takes very expensive dampers / springs to beat all round m8 |

Hi All, so I have finally got the shocks cleaned up and fitted to my car, I have run the car up and down my road a few times, few hundred yards. And I have to say I’m a little disappointed with how little the car has lowered its self on the front. Using the finger measure from tyre to arch before I fitted shocks I was sitting at three fingers now the gap is only two fingers. Which roughly translates into the car dropping about 12-15mmm. My eibach springs should give me a drop of 35mm. Is This Normal? Or have I done something wrong? And I don’t think the car is sitting level one side slightly higher than the other at the front. Do I need to put some proper miles on the car? For shocks to settle down? I have doubled checked my install at each side is installed the same. Can anyone help? Thanks James |

Did you drop the shocks all the way down in the hubs?If I recall correctly, the car will drop a bit over time as well. Yes I made sure they were seated right down. The locating lug was lined up and seated right down onto the shoulders into hub. |

I’m sure some where on here I read that the B6’s had some trouble with the locating lugs being in the incorrect place, causing the car to sit high. But I’m dammed if I can find the post now! |
