An old man drove into the side of it last week and put a large dent in the offside rear quarter, a smaller dent in the door and on the sill cover. The car is perfectly drive-able with the damage (no sharp edges) and everything still works (door opens/closes, central locking works, etc.).
Unsurprisingly the insurance company wants to write the car off, and whilst I don't have the time or means to repair it, I would like to see the car go to someone who has. I'm really gutted because I love this car and wanted to keep it for years! The damage isn't recorded so it won't show as a category anything.
It's a 98/S in black on 145k. It has part service history; seven stamps in the book up to 2008 and a lot of invoices thereafter. I have owned it just over a year and I believe I am the sixth owner. It comes with two remote keys. One works but the other needs a battery.
The cam belt and water pump were done in April 2017 at 128k, and it has had new front discs and pads, new front coil springs and a new idle control valve since then. It passed its MOT last month with no advisories.
There is a large dent in the offside rear quarter panel and some lighter damage to the driver's door and sill cover. There is also a small scuff both sides of the front bumper which have been there the whole time I've owned it. The driver's seat bolster is also worn. Apart from that it is in pretty good condition, although there are lots of small dents and scratches as you would expect from a 20-year-old car.
The engine is totally standard and runs spot on. Gearbox and clutch are perfect. Sometimes there's a slight wheel wobble past 70, I think the wheels just need balancing. There's also a very small oil leak from the rocker cover. I check regularly but it's never needed topping up more than once every three months. Everything in the car works, even the AC which I have been told is unusual with these!
It is totally standard apart from the chrome-effect gear knob and silver dash which I think is from a later phase 3 car. It had a naff aftermarket stereo when I bought it so replaced that with a tape deck from a phase 1. It fits much nicer and I have used a cassette adaptor to listen to music through my phone. Also I just remembered the rear calipers are painted red.
As stated before I was hoping to post this on the 'What's It Worth?' page but I can't work it out! The car will probably not be available for another week or so until I have sorted out with the insurance company and got a new car.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
