Yeah I’ve heard good things about doing it. I think I’ll get the gearbox overhauled at the same time as 3rd gear synchro is a bit hit and miss sometimes it slides in fine others it just won’t go it’s very intermittent |

Got the cage in yet? Seriously recommend welding the joints and stitch it to the A and B pillars if possible. Would be a lot more rigid.________________________________________ DIABLO GTI-6 - Legend - NILE GTI-6 - SoldCHERRY GTI-6 P1 SUPERCHARGED - Broken up BLACK RALLYE - Sold 205 Dturbo xud9 work horse - Dead CHERRY RALLYE - new toy |

so thought it was about time I revived this thread as lots has happened......so back in 2019 this is how the car was sat 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr spec was basically standard engine wise other than a scorpion exhaust, K&N filter and basic GHA Gaz coilovers. team dynamic 1.2 with yoko AD08r Safety devices cage. Sparco Evo seats and 5 point harnesses. Hi Spec 4 pot calipers 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr after a good few track days things were going well and I was looking at doing some upgrades ... 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr sadly after this in late 2019 the engine started tapping badly from the top end so I managed to get hold of a replacement engine at a very good price and set about getting that rebuilt over winter 2019/2020 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr after getting it all apart it became very clear as to why is was so cheap as the bottom end was showing signs of heavy wear and that is was definitely going to need a full rebuild. After a couple of conversations with Rich W everything was dropped off to him and the process was started. 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr This process took a lot longer than planned as we are all aware Covid happened that slowed things down and then finding out the Crank wasn't saveable so 3 different cranks later I finally had something that was useable. As I had gone to the effort of having the engine full rebuilt I thought why not get the box done as well and while it was being done I might as well add an LSD so dropped off the box to Miles Horne who stripped, refreshed and rebuilt the box and installed a Gripper Plate Diff 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr so after lockdown was lifted I managed to enlist some help of friends and the engine swap process started 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr while doing this i relocated and installed a much smaller lightweight battery, remade all the main power cables and had a minor engine bay tidy up 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr managed to get the car all up and running and in the september of 2020 in the brief period where we could mix with other households myself and a few mates went on the little trip to North Wales so managed to get the car all run in and working well for this trip 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr At this point the car was feeling good but it didn't feel the best so a few more upgrades happened Gaz GHA out and a set of Golds went in along with Baker BM Top mounts 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr due to the camber adjustable top mounts I then had the strut tops modified and strengthened to allow full range of adjustment 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr Then these were offered to me at a very good price so couldn't turn them down. 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr After a refurb I think they look rather good 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr made a slight modification to the front bumper to aid cooling 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr from there I then just enjoyed the car for most of 2021 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr There were a couple of changes through 2021 including a trip up to PUG1Off for their Stage 2 package which includes an upgraded Cam better flowing throttle body and a remap. Nothing major but a much better drive while on track 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr I also made a trip to see Stef of Axels By Stef and he installed a set of 21mm Torsion bars and a 30mm ARB 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr Then sadly towards the end of 2021 is where things took a turn for the worse ..... during the last track day of 2021 lets say things didn't go to plan. It started less than ideal as the track was covered in snow and ice so conditions weren't ideal. so after a late start things picked up and seemed to be going well. until half way through an afternoon session the car started miss-firing and was low on power. I was low on fuel (light on) so put it down to fuel starvation and planned to coast the rest of the lap pit and refuel but I didn't make it that far .... two corners later horrendous knocking a windscreen full of white smoke and the engine seized. 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr |

So after a couple of months of feeling very sorry for myself and being annoyed about the situation I set about getting things sorted. So got the engine back out to assess the situation and work out what had gone wrong ... 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr so it was clear something rather bad had happened at the bottom end and after conversation with various different people it was agreed that due to oil starvation the car had spun a bearing and then subsequently seized causing a rod to fully fail and punch a hole through the block. |

So enter this lovely VTS 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr picked this up early 2022 as a complete donor car, ran drove and had only done 55k. So whipped the engine and box out along with a few other bits and scrapped the shell after getting p**sed off trying to sell it all 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr |

so after going back and forth with what to do with the VTS engine I decided to repeat the process have it fully rebuilt and while there this time I would make a few changes. so stripped the engine apart and cleaned everything to within an inch of its life All engineering work was carried out by HACK Engineering down in Lewis apart from piston pockets were enlarged by Bridgecraft engineering. then the engine was assembled by Pug1Off. fortunately the only saveable part from the old engine was the cams so they have been assessed polished and re-installed into the new engine. 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr |

so currently the car is sitting in the garage awaiting the last few jobs that I'm currently putting off before the VTS engine can be installed. These are the following install a Satchshift kit plumb and install an Accusump in an attempt to never be in this situation again! bigger Brembo calipers with floating discs modified fuel rail and fuel lines from Tom Collins and finally a much nicer set of Carbon Kevlar Corbeau Pro - Series bucket seats so I will aim to keep this updated with the progress and hopefully be back out on track this year 306 by Tom Foot, on Flickr |

You downplayed the engine damage a bit, looks like absolute carnage! Car should be back better than ever with the changes you've got planned. ________________________________________ 1343Z4 coolant hose o-rings for sale198131 injector o-rings for sale |

Yeah it was actually much worse that I thought it was lol. Fully snapped a rod that then destroyed a piston and poked a hole in the block both front and back 😂 |
