Hello, while I am changing the radiator I thought it would be a good idea to sort the fans out. Anyone know a good way to make the fans both work together?

They do work together, or they should do.

yes, they will do as standard, so you just need to fix them not bodge it up.

Well I had a fiddle with the relays and both fans kicked in. Strange thing is, when it was only 1 fan working that fan sounded like it was full speed. When the 2 work together it sounds like they're on half speed..? Perhaps they're meant to work like that in case 1 fails the other works faster to compensate? Anyway, new rad is in and bled and working well and the fans kick in and cool it down fast. Now for MOT and the next Track day, can't wait!!

If they're in serial it might make sense that they run slower when both on

Thanks. Hello Dan, How's the track car coming along? Been a while since I spoke to you?

the way they work typically is they switch from series to parallel to alter the speeds, so I would be replacing the relays and checking the contacts in the round plug on the fan cowling.

They work in half speed series for stage 1, then full speed parallel for stage 2. The fact only 1 fan runs at full speed on stage 2 tells you that the second fan is missing it's 12V feed. I had this on my HDi, and as Mei infers it was a corroded pin on the fan loom connector by the nearside chassis leg.

Fan wiring is available here:
