I've got a banging noise coming from the rear passenger side when going over pot holes, bumps ect. It's a firm nock like the rear beam banging about so I'm guessing the mounts. I jacked the wheel up and can't feel any play in the trailing arm and the beam didn't feel loose but there was a bit of movement and a nock if I yanked on the wheel firmly. I tried to tighten the bolts in the boot floor but they weren't loose.Would you all agree it's most likely the mounts ? ________________________________________ 208 GTI OwnerTurbo'd '6 project - work in progress |

Yep! my rear was doing the exact same thing for a while!Swapped both sets of mounts and i have not heard it since! Be careful if you intend to do this job yourself however! the rear beam is heavy and getting it lined back up with all the holes can be a bugger. watch you dont lift the car off your stands like i did! |

Consider refreshing the beam if you take it off car to do mounts.I can guarantee that if car has been previously lowered you won't get the bolts out to just change the mounts anyway ________________________________________ FRESHLY RE-FURBISHED GTI BEAMSFITTING AND LOWERING AVAILABLE. I believe it may be lowered I'm not sure. The beam seems untouched and I've checked the trailing arms for play and there's nothing. They spring lovely. Can you change the mounts with the beam in place or is it a take it off job?________________________________________ 208 GTI OwnerTurbo'd '6 project - work in progress |
