My nearside ABS ring has come loose - local garage has quoted me £260 for a replacement, incl. labour & VAT. Am I being a tight bas**rd or is that a little overpriced?
Also, would it be wise to replace both sides at the same time?

Speak to Ryan pug_306 he'll have some 2nd hand ones. Problem is most garages charge £70 a hour or at least they do round here so even small jobs soon add up, I paid £320 recently to have my car towed in to have a starter motor replaced. Which seem a bloody lot till you start breaking it down

35mm for the shaft nut. I would use a good used genuine shaft as most of the pattern part ones don't last long.

A crowbar should suffice. Smile A new gearbox washer is not always needed if you don't have one ready.

If you don't have a 35 mm socket, you could use a 36 as it's more common and line it with pieces of a feeler gauge.

wasnt an oem cv joint if the abs ring came off, but you can get replacements very cheaply anyway.

36mm socket is fine and doesn't need packing out. I've used a 36mm for years on umpteen 6's.
