I bought a 306 GTI6 in December and had it off the road.

Jobs done

New timing belt kit
Water pump
Clutch
Full service
Back box
Valeo clutch
Gearbox oil change
4 new continental tyres
New MOT

Apart from the clutch all genuine parts used.

Now to start on the suspension.

It's drives pants. Loose and vibrates and the steering feels weird.

What could this be?
What do I look for?

When found, do I use genuine parts again or are there any after market parts I should buy?

the engine pulls like a train but I darent put it in the bends yet.

I'm in this project for the long haul now as already spend s##t loads.

I recon 1st port of call would be to check the wheel balancing,..
If their cyclones you'll need somone that can balance centerless alloys

Centerless?

It didn't feel as bad before I changed the tyres. Hope your right. Cheap fix.
They are only balancing so would halford/kwik fit be able to balance them properly?

Halfords and Kwik fit couldn't balance the books never mind a set of cyclones. Look round for a reputable tyre specialist close by, where are you based??

Poynton. About 10 minutes from Stockport.

I'd never even heard of centerless alloys before.

Garage who fitted my tyres could of said.

Suppose that's what you get for trying to save £10 a tyre and going back street.

As Lee said,...
Look for tire places google maps is good for finding things in a local area
Then ring around and ask if they can do centerless balancing
If they need to know your stud patten its 4 x 108

Bit of a trip out for you. But demon Tweaks do centre-less wheel balancing. Worth going for a mooch round if you've never been.
