Over the winter months ive become fed up with my reshell project and Ive been looking at alternative things. Ive always been a fwd hot hatch person and ive been looking at meganes.

Is a well sorted gti6 THAT far behind a meg225 ?

Im guessing the Meg gearboxes handle more boost and power better than the 6 but are the Megs actually that much better all round ?

the r26 is an extremely well thought of car (certainly the later models) i'd be surprised given it being 10 years its junior, if the Megane didnt have a number of benefits over the 6.

The rawness of the 6 and lack of aids always makes me feel like im a better driver as a result

As the guys have said they are totally different beasts

306 GTI-6/Rallye

GTI-6/Rallye are far more raw and dare a say a slightly more involving drive. There is something great about the heavy steering, the heavy clutch and gearchange that I love about the 306. However to keep up in a straight line there needs to be alot done to the 306 to keep the same pace as a Megane.

Megane 225

The Megane is a cracking car out of the box providing you pick the right model. Don't waste your time with a non cup model 225 as the suspension isnt as good as the cup model. they are easy to tune and with an intercooler, decat, exhaust system you should see 270-280 bhp and near enough 300 ft/lbs

if you can stretch the budget to and R26 as they come fitted with awesome recaro seats and a LSD as standard

306s cost very little to buy, are very reliable, parts are cheap, but somehow they still bankrupt you.

Meganes cost a fair bit more to buy, are not very reliable, have more expensive parts, and probably also bankrupt you.

Haha a decent 306 is not cheap to buy and the megane is more reliable than a 306

Nowt wrong with the reliability of a 6. My old blaze one good and my current China 6 is pretty much perfect.
But... get either the 6 or the megane that have not been looked after and your gonna have trouble
