Hi Guys,

My central locking is having a weird issue at the moment. it seems to be that when it is cold, and dark. my IR central locking stops working...

try to lock or unlock my car at night and nothing. hold the key button down, press it rapidly while waving around the window like a lunatic. nothing.

try it in the day time, works fine. past about 8pm and it stops working again... what the hell?
i should note, it works fine when i get home from work at about half 6, and its pretty dark then.

i recently replaced the key battery, so its not that, and i can see the little IR LED lighting up in a camera.

anyone encountered this before?

can i just chuck a sensor at it? or does it have to be keyed to the car? Dunno

Hi, I don't know what the fault is but believe that the sensor is linked to the key and can't be coded so you have to change the sensor and key together from another car.

You can make any IR key work.

Ir key will work but the immobiliser chip wont and i believe there coded to the reciver though the locking ecu

Not sure the dark will give you issues
Light frequencies get less interference at night
Could be condensation on the reciver plastic ??? Clean it and see !!

Mine works better on hot sunny days
Having said it usually does what the hell it wants when it wants
Thats why they they changed them for radio emitters

eh. i want to keep the rallye as stock as i can, bar a few things. IR fobs give the car a sense of (albeit annoying) character
