Driving home from work yesterday, I completely lost power steering. Last time it was gradual caused by worn ram but this time was virtually instant. I put in 1 litre of fluid and it went almost immediately. I can't see any leaks under the bonnet so think it may be a rotted cooling pipe.

I'm going to get it on a ramp on Monday to have a good look. If rotted, I'll just cut out the rot and fit a hose to bridge the gap, but would like to fit a replacement.

Does anyone have any power steering pipes and a spare ram?

speak to pug_306 mate, sure he will be able to help you out. Good luck with the diy fix if it's on the high pressure side!

Is the cooling pipe with the pressure switch on the high pressure side?

The cooling pipe runs across the front of the car next to the radiator. The pipe that runs under the sump is the high pressure pipe ;-)

Have you got any pipes in good condition?

I got it on the ramp and found that the undertray had worn down the high pressure pipe on the corner.

I have heard it rub on speed bumps, or could it be engine movement?
